Talking Parts Needed Please Help

Hi All,
Long time rider, but just bought an 09 Candy Thunder Blue that I'm really excited about. I've wanted one for some time. Mostly as a commuter and the fantastic MPG!
Got such a deal, but the bike was crashed and needs functional and cosmetic parts. Sure could use advice about the where to get them. Been looking on Flea Bay and there are plenty. Not impressed with the prices though. Some guys are selling what i consider scrap for a pretty good amount.
Don't have any experience making plastic repairs or painting.
I'm considering a set of the chinese made, but I'm very concerned about the color matching.
Anyway, looking for both side fairings, cowl, front fender, rear set (both sides) front turn signals, right mirror (or just the glass part).
Any help or advice, or used parts would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount for functional stuff.
Thanks.
Paul

Welcome Paul. Good luck with your parts search. Maybe post a few pics. We have some talented members that may offer some insight on how to repair items instead of replacement.

I have a right tail fairing, ill give it to you for 10 bucks plus shipping, would probably add up to 15$ total.

The add is here for 20 but ill do 15 shipped for a member: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271135326011...witem=&vxp=mtr

The cracks can be fixed if you know how

I dont think he listed the tail fairings as one of the parts needed. by "rear set" i think he is referring to the rear sets or foot controls.

Here it is.

This is what I'm up against. I would be interested in used parts, so yes thanks.
For $875 I got this 2009 with 2300 miles on it from a kid that had no business being around a motorcycle. So of course he crashed it pretty good.
Got a check from the insurance company, spent it and now the bike has sat for nearly a year. Hope the photos upload.
Thanks again. Can't wait to get it going.

Do we have anyone here that feels pretty good about repairing and painting used parts?
Here is the questionable set, I'm thinking about.
http://www.dhgate.com/k222-blue-full...9b6a71c0a.html
Also have corresponded with this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/271124597568...84.m1423.l2649 who says if I send him a color sample (I guess to China) he can match it and send me a painted set, but I don't know.
And the other big buy, would be a set of these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261151129461...84.m1423.l2649
In addition to the items mentioned in the original post.
Thanks again men.

I do want to fix it. I really want to ride it everyday. Tank is in tact, no damage. He claims he hit a stop sign. He tore off both sides of the rear sets and smashed all the front plastics. The rest seems to be good. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know how to ride. He put less than a thousand miles on it in the time he had it. Any one installed a side stand switch. It is the first thing I want to do to see if I can get it running. Is there a way to bypass it in the meantime?

Yes. You can put a jump wire in the connector. I have a switch for sale, if you need one.

Switch

The original is totally destroyed. I was thinking I would just cut it off and join the circuit. Think that may work, or is there a resistor in the switch? Got one on e bay last week for $8, but thanks.

i just cut the wire at switch and soldered the two ends together, it works well.

this way you still have the plug to put the switch back later.

that complicates things somewhat.
i was going to suggest refinishing the tank, buying the white set, and painting them all together to match.

since the tank is good, you can still bring it in and get a paint match from a local auto grade paint dealer. if the match is close i would go ahead and spray it. they have a tool that measures flat colors well, but the candy colors can be hit or miss.

I've got a left and right stock turn signal.

I think they'll fit into one of the small flat rate boxes so shipping shouldn't be too much. And they were working when I pulled them off to install the flush mounts (though scraped a bit).

You need a list of parts you looking for. I've got lots of stuff I've been pulling off my bike little by little with all the mods I've been doing.

If you replace you rear fender @CycleCam303 with buy your broken one or may even trade you his fender eliminator kit if that's your style.

Parts Still Needed Thanks Guys

Still need right side fairing. And front turn signals. Please contact me directly at paulhmartinez@Live.com. Not having much success with the PM system here. Got many parts, still much work to do. Did get it started and it runs darn well. How can I tell the oil level is accurate, nothing showing in window. And where the heck does the battery strap go? Can find info any where. It was loose in the compartment. It is going to be good. Need to have frame straightened where rear set mounts on left, any one been through that?

When I'm done with attaching my ZX-10 turn signals/mirrors in about a week or so ill sell you my front turn signals.

To check your oil level the bike needs to be standing strait up, so get it on a front & rear stand. If you don't have stands then have someone hold the bike upright while you look at the sight glass. If it totally black then is over filled if it all clear then you are low. From the sounds of it I just change the oil now that way you know it's right and you'll have the mileage recorded for when it was last done.

We don't have a battery strap it's more like a plastic lid where the front two tabs lock into two slots and the rear is bolted down by a single screw. If you have a rubber strap then its wrong.

I'm still waiting on the adapter brackets to attach the mirrors before I remove my only front blinkers. Probably another week from what my friend make the part said. Are the rear blinkers the same as the front? Because I have those already in a box. Sorry you leave you hanging like this but I want to make sure I'm not left without blinkers myself.

PayPal is fine when it comes time.
