diy tire change equipment
I was wondering if anybody has used something similar to these, the reason why I am asking is the cost is cheaper than if the dealer work to do two tires,
I am just curious this is something I am looking into thank you very much,http://m.ebay.com/itm/330953268947?nav=SEARCH I will be doing track days on my bike, and anticipate changing a few times, I have a couple sets of street tires, one set of track tires. Have you considered getting a set of spare rims and putting the race tires on them? Would be faster than swapping tires on the same rim.
I just use tire irons and an old leather glove to protect the rim when changing tires. But the linked changer may be faster than irons. |

thanks Lee
Yes that's goal to get spare wheels,
Iam leading toward getting it I cannot justify $80 to have the shop do it when the piece of equipment that I could buy is cheaper than that, and then I can do my own tires from, which I would really like to do , I just wanted to make sure that it was not a piece of junk that won't work, but since you are getting yours changed with tire irons (kudos btw) I am encouraged. |

I just put new tires on my bike a few days ago.
It's the first time I've ever changed a tire. Was easy. Used two tire irons. Cut up an old oil bottle to protect the rims from gouges. Took an hour start to finish. Front and rear, off the ground to back on the ground. Youtube change motorcycle tire. Also used windex for lube. |

if you are going to the track, just bring your front and rear stands and have the tire guy at the track change them for you. it takes them all of 2 minutes

thanks Al Alex TC
I see the guys at the track going back & forth with tires all day. fortunately the torque monsters that we own are pretty good on tires well at least for me and the novice group,
I guess realistically I need stands spare wheels, but I definitely want to learn how to change out my tires, I'm going to stop by my next track day and see how they're doing the tires & and what the deal is with that like how much $$ etc. Thanks guys |

I can't comment on anything regarding the track. Buuuuuut I do have a tool just like that and it works like a charm. Breaks the bead in seconds. I saw videos of people hitting their wheels with shovels...using a 2x4 under their cars....all sorts of crazy stuff. I said **** it and got a bead breaker instead.
Now if only I changed enough tires to justify that purchase
