Sometimes working at home has advantages. Biz is slow today.
OK...so we have a single mom desperately trying to make ends meet by singing at pool parties in revealing attire. And we have a writer who on her behalf publicizes her appearance on a publick internet forum known to be frequented by old guys who smoke and wear loafers and carry a purse. Using the code words of the sordid trade ( Croton...party....need i say more?) he squanders his obvious talent. My reply to these enticements is simply...
Please !
I'm
Married.
Please
Not bad, eh ?
Geez....hope I get something to do today.
Hope to see you saturday

hey all...

here is the final route the total lengthy is 46.6 miles.

- I took the ice cream place out of the route because they are only open from 3=7 on Saturday (for some weird reason).
- I added a loop farther up 9W though so we can swing back down 218 anyway.

If anyone has any questions you can shoot me a text or call me at 917 524 6944.

I'll be leaving from Brooklyn around 8 tomorrow if anyone wants to ride over to ML1.

If you plan to be at a specific Meeting Location let us know. There might not be any riders going to ML2?

I plan on going to ML1 then heading to ML3.
@eddiekay is going to meet us at the top of Bear.

WE went left too but cut left up Canopus and did the ride you and Rissi and me did last month. Took the guy from jersey up to 301....he loved it. Only did 1/2 the road. AB Doug had a good time too. I thought him and AB did exceptionally well for the first time on Canopus. It's not an easy road to go fast on.

It was 236 miles for us!
I got home and just crashed on the couch. think we where on 287 for over an hour.
We have a lot of good roads, PA would be best i think.... just have to plain something out. I do have some ideas.

A later-ride report for those who bolted after the run up 218….

The fun continued on the other side of the river. Eddiekay led us across the Bear Mountain Bridge and we regrouped at the big traffic circle in Peekskill. That's the same alternate meet point I referred to earlier, by the way.

We all took off up Rt. 9 and I quickly got close to Eddie (sorry for breaking protocol, Panda, but I've ridden with him before and I knew that if I lost him, he'd be GONE).

It was Eddie, John-who-came-from-NJ-on-the-blue-SV650, then me, with the rest of the group fading into the distance behind. Eddie, in classic fashion, tried to snooker us… signaling to turn when there was no turn and then later diving off onto a side road so quick that it caught John out and he overshot.

Serves him right… the guy rides, shall we say, a bit on the aggressive side. He recovered and rejoined. Nobody else did… they were so far back by then that we'd vanished by the time they arrived.

Order by then was eddie, me and John-who-etc.

Note to new riders: Eddiekay is a maniac in the best kind of way. Follow at your own risk… I promise a challenge. He will test you and leave you in the dust if you're not up to it.

He led us a merry chase along insanely narrow, twisty and hilly back roads at a speed I certainly would not try on my own. At one point there was a patch of sand that got him decidedly sideways. There were also a couple of short stretches of dirt road, which we rode very slowly and were therefore not a problem. Despite this, John managed to spin his wheels in the dirt… whether intentionally or through lack of throttle control is not clear.

I wouldn't be able to reproduce that route if I tried. I was too busy trying not to wad the bike up. I did manage to stick with him, though…

Eventually we wound up back on Rt 9 a couple of miles north of where we'd left it. We split up at that point and I headed down to the pool party I'd been invited to.

All told a great day! A pleasure to meet everyone. I found some new roads to play on and it was well worth the trip.

Yes he does, that was the fist time i ran with him. On 287 doing 70mph he was 2-3 feet away from my tail. Don't know if anyone does that but i was a wee bit uncomfortable with it....

Anyway, sounds like you guys had fun after we left! I am so stiff this morning
Still going to do my Sunday ride down the river into new hope though!

That's exactly the move that made him overshoot the turn.

Great stuff on the track. The street, not so much.

Where we wnt after we got lost;
Panda...you been here before.....
We went up to canopus Rd and did the hill climb route.
If anyody liked the backroad we took off RT 9.....there are dozens like that east of 9,off 301. off the Taconic. I like them because you cant ride them fast enough to die....you can get hurt...but these are 30-40 mph roads if you go as fast as you can. For sightseeing,,,,they're excellent as they are super twisty with loads of old buildings, horse farms, some dating to Rev War.
Route 9 goes from the south tip of Mnahattan to way north of Albany.
South of 84 the side roads are the tightest, north of 84 they get to be more like farm roads and much flatter.
