How do you ride that? there is no riding position that that thing would not be uncomfortable in.

How do you figure? It's just a scooter and they haven't changed the seating posture on it really.

@saxnbass: to make that scooter worse, consider this: judging by the ground clearance it's not designed for practical street use and judging by the shape of it it's not designed for racing... that suggests... it's purely for show :O Freak shows I think.

akima, a lot of those scooter have air bag suspension that they can lower when they stop, and raise the scooter up when they start it. It looks low parked, but has plenty of ground clearance for daily riding.

It's the same as with lowrider cars/trucks basically. I don't think they have that crowd over there in the UK so she probably has never been exposed to the lowrider vehicles that we have here in the US.

haha that would be quite funny to see a low-rider truck pull up, and have a Brit get out of it. Something about that picture just doesn't look quite right in my mind

erm, actually we DO have quite a healthy custom scene over here, in both the bike and car worlds, and off the shelf air systems have been available for VW's for instance, for many years.
A lot of people are unaware of what goes on, partly because you might not happen to live in an area where there are many owners of such vehicles. I started reading custom and chop mags back when I was a teenager in the late seventies, so I've been around that scene for a long time.
Akima is quite new to the whole bike scene I think, so she's got a lot to discover, ............

Tony B, not it's not the look, just the accent. Haha when I see a truck that's slammed to the ground, I expect someone who's either urban, or southern drawl, not someone who speaks like my soccer coach

I like the shows and stuff that Ricky Gervais has been in, but I really don't like him much as a person after he hosted the Golden Globes. I thought his humor was too mean spirited and attacking, rather than good natured and fun

Yes, the British version was the first. However, it only ran for 14 episodes, and was almost cancelled on BBC twice. The US version on the other hand is the most popular and longest running version worldwide with 8 seasons and 165 episodes.

Awards for original BBC "The Office" as quoted from Wikipedia:

Quote:
In 2002, the series won the Best TV Comedy award, and Gervais the Best TV Comedy Actor award, at the British Comedy Awards.

In 2004, The Office won the Golden Globe Award for "Best Television Series: Musical Or Comedy", beating nominees Arrested Development, Monk, Sex and the City and Will & Grace. It was the only British comedy in 25 years to be nominated for a Golden Globe, and the first ever to win one. Ricky Gervais was also awarded the Golden Globe for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series: Musical or Comedy" for his role.

Also in 2004, the BBC's Britain's Best Sitcom public poll voted the programme the 25th all-time favourite out of a preselected list of 100.

In 2005, the series' concluding two-part special was nominated for two Emmys in the categories of "Outstanding Made for Television Movie" and "Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special". Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade, "best-of" list, saying, "We love the Scranton crew. But Ricky Gervais' mockumentary series about sadsack employees in Slough, England, is the undisputed champion of awesomely awkward cubicle hell."

Awards for the US version of "The Office" on NBC:

Quote:
As of 2011, the series has received 26 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, with four wins. It has won for Outstanding Comedy Series in season two, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Greg Daniels for "Gay Witch Hunt"), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Jeffrey Blitz for "Stress Relief") and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series. Many cast and crew members have expressed anger that Carell did not receive an Emmy award for his performance in the series. Despite this, Carell won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy or Musical in 2006. The series has also been named the best TV series by the American Film Institute in 2006 and 2008 and won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2006 and 2007.

Many many years ago, it was suggested that the best device for road safety in cars, would be to ban seat belts, and place a large metal spike in the middle of the steering wheel pointing at the driver's chest ....

My Dad actually had a classic car which you weren't legally compelled to wear seatbelts in. It was basically a death trap... the metal frame around the wind screen was low enough that you'd hit your head on it in a crash. He drove that car very carefully!
