Talking New To The Site, New To The Bike.

Hey guys, I just bought my first bike, and I'm new to the ninjette forums; I heard about it from a coworker and fellow rider, and so far I've picked up some really good information.

I just purchased a second hand 2011 Ninja 250 with about 5500 miles on it, for $2300. It had a green 2012 Ninja's fairings put on it, so it has more of a metallic look. It came without any turn signals and a hack-job of an attempt of eliminating the fender, but I'm working on it. I'll try and keep this updated; I'm open to some suggestions for what I should do next to the bike.

Here are a couple pics of my very first bike:

I installed an Integrated Sequential LED Taillight and Flush Mount LED Turn Signals, but noticed that the bike was missing the Turn Signal relay. I haven't been able to test the signals yet, but the relay came in today so I'm hoping to get that done tonight.

Nice color! Congrats on the new bike. And welcome to the forum.

My favorite fender eliminator is the Yoshimura - it's really, really nice. But a touch expensive. I have gotten them for all my bikes in the past, high quality.

Here are some very cool turn signals for the 250 that are flush mount and look cool - http://www.hightechspeed.com/products/ProtonLights/

Thank you. I'm looking for a seat cowl right now for it, because I won't be doubling anyone. I'm having trouble finding one in that color, though.. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Thanks! I really like the yoshimura fender eliminators. I've looked them up on YouTube. I already got my flushmounts from Competition Werkes - I got clear for better visibility.

I saw your title, then the pics and thought, "Wait, that's a '12!" Then I read the description. Hehehe

The '12 color is referred to as candy lime green, or CL green. If you can't find one floating around, what I did was bought another one, sanded it down, and then painted it using Colorite's spray cans. Came out matching nicely.

eBay, Craigslist, maybe even the marketplace here might have one. If you don't mind paying OEM prices, check out Bike Bandit, Kawasaki Parts House, Partzilla, or the like. You'll find the cowl listed with the rear seat as an option in the parts diagram.

If you cannot find one in your color, you can paint a damaged one. That paint is probably ridiculous at colorrite.com but it is the best paint you can get to match.

Well I installed the LED flush mount turn signals and the LED integrated taillight; the brake light works but none if the turn signals... the indicator doesn't even blink. I'm using the EP34 Relay and the fuse is good. Any other possibilities?

When you put the turn signal on, does the signal come on and stay on without flashing?

I got the integrated taillight signals working perfectly. The flush mount signals don't even light up though.

Check the fuses. He didn't have blinkers on before so a fuse might be blown? I had something similar happen on my car.
Also check the connectors/wires.

Hmm... I'm kind of dense... How does the relay fit into the circuit?

And should this portion of the thread be in the fast-flashing LED turn signal thread? Or is that splitting hairs? Or threads?

Fuses are good, wires and connectors both appear to be good... I'm stumped.

With four leds you need the diode kit anyway. I would go ahead and pick one up from modmy250 or somewhere.

Eliminated that nub of a fender and hooked the license plate up. I used a kit I bought off of eBay for $30.. That's where the LED lights and bracket came from.

Does that fender make it hard to put the passenger seat on?

Nope, no difference at all. The kit is literally just one bracket and an LED license plate light.

The MSF BRC (Basic Riders Course) provides a bike at the location. They also teach to people who have zero experience.

Nice bike!

if you ever find yourself in nashville where i teach its 210$ most classes are around this price for the BRC, and 150$ for the ERC "with your own bike". its the fastest, easiest, and safest way to get your licences and i dont think a single person on this site will disagree.

Sign up as soon as they allow you to. It will fill up incredibly fast. If you miss all the good dates, try to get in the class as a "walk-in". There are always vacancies, especially if the weather isn't picture perfect. Also, the BRC is standardized across the country. So if you find yourself away from home for a little while check out local offerings.

Once completed it will help with getting your license(states vary) & probably a nice insurance discount!

Sure thing.
http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=251446326227

One thing to know before get it, you have to cut fender and remove the metal brackets underneath the tail; which was a pain, because of those metal tabs. It's worth it tho, the LEDs are super bright.
