Hey From MS

Hi everyone! I am currently in the market for a 2011 and have my MSF course scheduled for tonight! This is my first bike and it took me a long time to decide whether I wanted to go with a cruiser or sport bike. At 5" tall you really have to look at seat heights, but after doing some research I finally discovered that the Ninjette was the way to go.

I currently reside in MS, but will only be here for another couple months and then I'll be off to Germany for a few years. I am hoping to explore Europe in that time and decided that a bike would be the most intersting way to do it.

So far this forum has been great for information and can't wait to be able to start doing some modifications.

welcome to the site. Good luck in the MSF and also .. if ride heights an issue, you can always buy a lowering link.

Have fun and be safe with the MSF!

Make sure you keep the front and rear balanced when you do the lowering stuff.

100% agree with you on that. It's why I lowered my cbr600rr.

Don't forget to lower the front also. BTW I wouldn't recommend anything over a 1" drop as it drops it a lot more than you'd think (see wiki link below). 1" took me from tip toes to flat footed on my cbr.

I'd say take it somewhere to have it done so its properly adjusted front and rear. If you do some homework on measurements you can do it yourself. Well you + someone else to help, it def takes two or three people to do right.

Edit: also don't forget that you need to adjust your kickstand (have it cut and make it smaller or buy a new one) or the bike won't sit right and may fall over unattended... Ask me how I found out ..

I personally didn't trust buying an "adjustable" link. I wanted something that was SOLID. Here's a decent looking kit.

You can however buy an adjustable kickstand:

Thanks for the links! This is a great place to start and I tend to prefer to do things myself. I did a lot of work on my f150 and Element before I sold them.

I'm 5'4" and I had to lower mine to get my feet down. It really helps with your feeling of confidence while you're learning. Later you can raise it back up a bit, if you want to. Welcome to the forum. I have family in that neck of the woods, too. My Dad was stationed at Keesler back in the 50's and stayed there when he got out. I grew up right around there.

I passed now I am working on getting my license endorsed, but probably won't be able to go until Tuesday.

I actually went and looked at bikes yesterday and have my heart set on something other than a ninjette but it is still a Kawi. I am looking at the ER-6N, they had a really great deal on one that was a new '09.

@TenaciousD Yeah I was really not looking forward to being down in the south. I love the mountains of Colorado and was not really looking forward to the humidity, but it is not as bad as I thought.
