I'm 19 years old and work at my local grocery store, stocking shelves.
I live with my mother and I'm not even a student currently taking a semester off. Military is an option. A minimum of 12 hours a week and $8 an hour doesn't support very much at all, and I am yet to buy a Ninja/gear/insurance. I'm going to be broke very soon. -.- ...story of my life

What do you do for a living ?
Ok I saw this in UK forum and was kinda interesting to see the vast variations in what people do for a living but all share a common interest. In this case Bikes more importantly the little Ninja.
So to kick things off I am an expat from the UK living in the beautiful land of smiles (Thailand) I am semi retired at 47 but teach at a private school .Before that I drove long haul buses In the UK and prior to that was a motor vehicle engineer. And please folks this is not a thread to judge people just an interest

I go to college, currently work at the information desk in my hall for the good ol' minimum wage. Luckily, insurance is (was) cheap in michigan. Just finished my EMT-B course, so hopefully I'll be able to snag a job in the emergency department soon here. That pays well, for me at least.

I currently work at a self storage company. Have you seen Auction Wars? Yep, those types of storages. I work at their call center though, giving quotes and reserving spaces. It is decent in the mean time. I hope to go to finish college soon if I can. I went in 2006 for Game Art and Design. But I don't know if I will still do the same thing, we'll see. My job now helps a lot, though for California living expenses I wish it was more. A lot of interesting people on the phone though, retarded or not.
Suggestion: If you are looking to store your bike, don't be lazy, take the elevator and store it upstairs for $50-90 cheaper instead of having to go the same distance on the first floor for more money. The amount of work will be exactly the same. |

New York City Department of Sanitation. I possess a CDL class B license and I drive trucks, load garbage, sweep the streets and this second I am sitting in a front loader machine cleaning up storm debris from this bitch Sandy. Our garbage trucks weigh 19.7 tons unloaded and we put between 10 to 13 tons of garbage in them daily.
So you can say "I lift things up and put them down"

I'm a welder. ASME Section IX certified. Used to work for the utility in NY doing power plant maintenance. Major boiler overhauls and emissions retrofits. All x-ray welds. Now I build and restore the historic San Francisco cable cars, and maintain the track components and cable house machinery.

I was a car saleswoman for 2 years and just left the business recently to finish up college. I sold KIAs for 1 1/2 years and then moved onto a Hyundai dealership for the remainder of the time. I now work the front desk at a hotel it's not nearly as much fun or financially rewarding, but working 55+ hours every week and trying to be a full-time student just wasn't meshing well. But by working at the Hyundai dealership I found my Ninjette! I had been looking online on Craigslist and almost bought a Buell Blast until my manager and I came to an agreement on price on his 2012 250 and I just couldn't pass it up!

Asset Protection at Best Buy.
Not as exciting as a lot of jobs but figuring out how to keep people from running out the door with 4 Macbooks again can be rough. Especially since we can't stay up front or check reciepts anymore. It made customers "uncomfortable". |

I'm 31 and a writer. I've written a few novels, none of which have been published(sigh) so I pay the bills by freelancing as a copy writer. Not glamorous by any stretch of the imagination. The hours are random and usually far too long, but it gives me the chance to chase after my dream so eh.
Plus if I make enough money to pay my bills early I can spend more time on my bike. |

BUMP!
I am a Sr. Software Engineer/Programmer/Designer. Been doing it since graduating college in 1996. Two years ago I worked on a variety of celeb sites. It was fun but very demanding. Now it's just boring point of sale and web based applications. I work at home overlooking 186 acres of lake, in the middle of the woods of KY. So I can go for a nice ride just about any time. It's nice.... but fear that my gravy train will not last much longer.

I work in a hospital genetics lab setting up & analyzing tests for everything from hereditary cancers (breast, colon & stomach to name a few) to heart deformations, Cystic Fibrosis to neurological conditions. Some of the disorders can really put things in perspective (Huntington's & CADASIL are 2 of the scariest diseases going)
Other than that I've worked in cancer research & did the best part of 8 years in the artillery as a gunner & forward observer. |

Change in what I've been doing for some time now. Been working as a Bank Teller since March. A lot different then Security Officer.
Btw Kenny, good luck. I wanted to do the police academy when I turn 21. Now that it's getting close I have to put more thought into it. I hope you post stories about the tazing part lol.
