I can't wait for this plasti-dip fad to be over. Looks cheap and like the owner is too lazy to prep for a quality finish.

It can look surprisingly good. My track fairings are entirely dipped except for the black on top of the tail, which is rattle can.

It is NOT durable, though. Expect to recoat frequently. When I took my windshield off after this photo was taken, a half-dollar-sized piece of dip came off with one of the screws.

The best thing about it is that it's zero commitment. You don't like it, peel it off and you're back to where you started.

At some point I'll replicate this color scheme, but in real paint. I proved that it looks good using dip, so mission accomplished.

I could sure use cheap Plasti-Dip. I don't use it on my bike, but I do use it for boots.

plasti dip is great, people who say just get a real paint job are the same people who say if you want to lower your car you must get coilovers. And you can indeed clear coat over plasti dip but it will be a heck of rougher time peeling it off

Still have never used the stuff, keep thinking about things I would want to try it on but alas ..... never do. Maybe I will try it on some track fairings instead of the rattle can next.

I was thinking of getting some to fill the small chips in my race fairings. They aren't big enough to bother mixing a large mix of Bondo, most of which would just be wasted. Does it sand at all, or would attempting to sand it just rub it off?

The other option is a trick I learned building RC airplanes: Just mix some superglue and baking powder, makes a pretty good filler that is sandable for small holes/chips.

No, you don't want to use Plastidip from a spray can for that purpose. (The dipping version might work.) It's not that great of a filler.

I mostly use it for painting boots, where whatever I paint requires flexibility. Most spray paint doesn't cut it for this purpose; every time I've spraypainted boots, they crack and the paint flakes off soon afterwards. Plastidip doesn't crack under bending.
