That's quite smexy Kevin. For a green bike anyway
I pulled my carbs today and cleaned the heck out of 'em. Found one of my mains was a little loose. Also seeing some of the rubber boots for the electrical systems are fallin' apart, so time for another parts order. Definitely feeling like I'm spending more time on maintenance than on the road this summer. But gotta pay the piper sometime and I'd rather it be upfront than on the highway doin' 85... Still, glad I get to spend some QT with my baby

Finished putting on my woodcraft clip ons. I was having problems getting my hand to clear on the clutch side while on the brake side I had plenty of room. Figured it out after I rode it around today, should be good to go. Lock to lock my gloves don't hit now. Plus new grips!

I modded my front tire's tread pattern.
That was after many miles and when I felt it it was REALLY gummy/sticky. Last futzed with by CZroe; June 18th, 2011 at 10:11 PM. |

Installed my tank pad that I got in the mail today but not real happy with it. Looked cool on their website http://www.srsigndesign.com/id3.html but the green is way off. Guess I'll just live with it for now.

A quick tip to help your levers clear with some room to spare is to pull the handlebars back as far as you can before tightening everything. Pull it tight enough that it sticks to the triple tree(the riser) and then tighten everything down. This gave me the extra room needed on the clutch side. The grips are great and help keep vibration levels at stock with the clip ons, might be a tiny bit better.Do those clip ons fit? The woodcraft are 37mm

I added a qt of oil to mine. I noticed the last time I was riding that the oil light stayed on a little longer and even came on while riding. Not sure how it happened, but by the time I made it home and checked it, it was barely showing in the window. I'll be changing the oil this weekend anyway, so I can check for leaks. So far, no oil stains anywhere.

this post is more of a "what have you done to your ninjette this week" post than a "what have you done to your ninjette today" post.
my battery died. So I learned how to start it by popping the clutch and took it for a ride to try and recharge it. That didn't work and I freaked out thinking it was the R/R so I charged the battery on a battery tender. Still no juice. Found a battery at autozone that works and gave it a full charge. $55 later... and the bike runs. yay! next thing I did was play around with my jetting. I took off the airbox lid, but that made my mains lean. So I put the lid back on. Then I tried different shimming on the needles. Thanks to kkims suggestions that I ignored the first time (sorry kkim. I'm listening more closely from now on I promise ) and tried more washers. 1 was for sure too few. 3 was a hair too many. 2 is perfect. reset the pilot jets to 2.5 turns out and the bike pulls everywhere smoothly. no chugging, and it pulls strongly starting at 5k and pulls hard starting at 6.5k-7k. beautiful. Finally, I noticed that my idle was pulsing. Since I've been messing with the jetting, it seemed like it was time to brave syncing my carbs. followed these instructions for the two bottle method. only cost me $8 at my local hardware store. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...carburetors%3F Now, my carbs are synced perfectly. wow. so smooth off the throttle, and the idle is even, and no more rhythmic pulsing. From now on the three things I recommend for every 250 owner to do is get better tires, shim the needles, and then sync the carbs. My bike is now purring and I'm still in love with it (even though my friend trusted me with his '98 CBR600RR and I'm in love with that too. two totally different animals) and for now the 250 is my dream bike because it's mine and I love it. |

Changed my oil and oil filter. Switched to synthetic oil. I played with the friction zone in my shed and the little bit I played with it it felt like the power delivery was a lot smoother when slowly releasing the clutch. Gonna see if it will stop raining for just 1 day so I can ride into work tomorrow .

That 4.5 wheel and tire installed looks sick ! I want one but no way to justify the cost.
I changed oil and ordered air filter for the pregen. Looking forward to getting it running properly. I "think" I have finally talked my wife into riding!

Great looking tire, slolane!
On another note, I have noticed that at the very bottom portion of my dash, there is an open space allowing me to see a small amount of the foam around the headlight and inside the fairing; is this normal? It looks as though it should be covered and I didn't recognize this before installing my new puig db windscreen.

^Mines is like that too. My double bubble made it more noticeable than with the stock windscreen.

I'd imagine this is the way kawasaki decided to vent some of the hot air from the headlight. It makes sense considering the temp / clock / compass doohicky I put under my windscreen always ran hot "(temp was running way too high) while the bike was running.

painted my windshield, very happy with it,looks 100% better than original. Stopped at Harbor Freight and picked up their rear stand but got to take it back tomarrow, the parts that hook the spools are both for the right side. next its time for my "second" 300 mile oil change this weekend. I figured I'd do 75,300 then 600 miles.

I arrived home just as the my favorite UPS man was pulling away. 30 minutes later I had a sweet set of woodcraft clip-ons on the bike ready to ride. I nailed the clearance on the first go (thanks to lots of reading here) and might only adjust them slightly. I wish there was more room to get a little more aggressive but these will work and keep the bike rider friendly enough for the wife.

I finished up adding additional tail/brake lights to the rear pods on my '04. Also put on a Wolo "Full Blast" low tone horn. Definitely much louder than the stock 'meep-meep' roadrunner sounding horn.

Took it out for its first "legal" ride today. I bought it from a friend, and have had it in my garage for a month trying to get him to get to a notary to have the title transferred, and we finally got it done yesterday, so today meant a legal ride to work.

Shimmed the carbs. Noticed a slight rattle around ~9/10k RPM's while accelerating hard but not necessarily at WOT. Anyone have input? I thought I recalled something about a front end rattle, but it's escaping me at the moment.
