Smile White 2008 250R - in Progress

Hey guys, my friend recently laid down my bike so I thought I'd just do a complete overhaul with new paint, and remove all the California emissions guts.

I thought I'd post pictures as I make progress. I'll post high res photos as soon as I finish.

Today's accomplishments:
Removing California emissions, changing spark plugs, and remounting a non-CA gas tank and rear cowling.

Tomorrow's project:
Mounting flush LEDs to the side fairings.

Other notes about my bike:
Exhaust is a GSXR pipe. Color is a pearl white (same color as the Lexus IS350) .. with paint code 064 or 054 , i forget.

Thanks for viewing!

I've soldered and mounting my LED turn signals. Bike has been completely retuned and rejetted with my GSXR pipe, and K&N air filter (thanks to the help of kkim, and some other fellow ninjetters).

Here's a pic with the body panels on.. high res photos coming late next week.
Happy holidays!

CA emissions

What benefit do we gain by removing the CA emissions "guts?" PROS, CONS? Will we have to put it back in for smog?

I removed the Kleen Air system because I bought an out of state Gas tank from Ohio on eBay. There's some talk about a motorcycle smog check, but as of now there is no necessary smog checks on bikes.

Kkim wrote an excellent DIY with PROS and CONS of this mod:

Another low res shot. Waiting on those panel clips for the lower fairings, and a rear brake light modulator, and that will conclude my 2009 mod list.

Pics as promised!

Fresh after a wax. Overcast day in Santa Barbara, perfect for photos.

Flush LEDs, kind of disappointing. Very dim, and directional. Not good for turn signals, though they look really cool. Yeah, I forgot to put in new well nuts on the front cowl.

Mean looking face

Side shot with GSXR Exhaust, I feel like I should be fighting crime when riding this bike now.

Rear shot, just installed a rear brake modulator, though you can't really see that in the photo.

Thanks for all your help in getting my bike modded and running again ninjette!

So schmexy! If I could change anything it would be some kind of LED tail light just for styling but it looks very nice nonetheless!
that exhaust looks really good with the white
edit: ooh ooh. what about some silver rear sets?

Very slick looking bike. Like the look of the muffler as well.

Perhaps you should investigate getting a Stormtrooper or Scout Trooper uniform...

Hey sixxer- thanks.

I did not wet sand, though I plan to when I get a little more time. For now it is just clear.

To re-install the tank after painting I put gas in the tank, and set the fuel switch to ON. I gave the bike some gas while starting it. When started, I put the fuel switch back to the original position.
