Please wear ALL of your gear....
A good friend of mine is in the hospital today recovering from a completely freak accident...
He was on his way to meet up with myself and a few fellow riders to go on a nice, calm, sunday afternoon ride. According to him, he was doing the speed limit of 65 mph on a road that he rides on a daily basis. He comes around a corner and right in his line, there's a pothole that wasn't there the day before. He has no time to react and hits it. Immediately the bike goes into a tank slapper. He remembers his MSF training and loosens his grip on the bars and tries to ride it out. It doesn't work. He goes down at what he estimates to be about 55 mph. All he was wearing was his helmet (thank god), a t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. The pictures are very graphic so I'll only post links to them. View them at your own discretion.. Arm Cut Hand Rash Foot Rash Knee Damage I haven't seen the bike yet. But from what he says, he's pretty sure its a total loss. But anyway.. The moral of the story is: Please wear ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME! He would have more than likely walked away from this had he at least had a jacket and boots on.

lol he's just one of those people. I'm surprised he didn't take pictures of the bike laying on the ground. His bike was a 2010 Ninja 650r(the same one that lost his 2 bros pipe last week).

Talking about ATGATT.
Today, on my way to work on I-95, I saw a big guy on a cruiser riding with only his right hand. As I came up next to him, the reason for the one hand is because he was typing on his cell phone with his left. On top of that, this guy was NOT wearing a helmet (NJ state law requires helmet for all riders), tshirt and jeans. Maybe he thought the Garden State police would mistaken his big, puffy long hair for a helmet. To each his own, just don't come near me or my cage when your face is scrapping the asphalt. I still have a whole life ahead of me. If you wanna be suicidal, just stay as far away from me as possible, I won't stop ya! Hope your friend gets well soon. Gear up and ride safe everybody.

Damn I need to get motorcycle pants. Got every covered except for knee, and still have really thick tissue from when I went down the first time.

ouch seeing his hands made me cringe..
I dont get it , even if you want to be a squid, why not wear gloves? Think of it ... if you fall, what are you going to try to break your fall with? whats your natural instincts tell you to do ...

Eeesh. Though honestly, he was super lucky for that if he really did drop at 55mph. Happy healing.

ouch! scarred for life. I still have scars from my accident from a couple years back and I had all my gears on (helmet, dainese armor, jacket, boots) its a good idea to always wear your gears... you just never know. Hope your buddy heals up quickly.
