Custom Race Day Mufflers and Fairings!

Hey guys I picked up a full set of fairings for $60 so I decided it would be cool to make some dedicated raceday fairings as well as modify my stock mufflers a bit aside from the already present baffle removal.

Here is a short video on the progress so far. I still have a lot of work to do and will happily keep you guys up to date should be done by tonight.

Lol, that is cool but wondering if track day tech will have an issue with sharp points.

I was thinking the same thing so if they do they are only tacked on and can be ripped off if need be. But we also trimmed the points on the ends too to eliminate the previous sharp points. It was James Bond I'm going to slice you if you get to close status prior.

(Yes it is really this easy.)
Take a cut off wheel and hack the end of the muffler off then twist the baffle out. Some people will drill the rivets out for the back plate then attempt to remove the baffle so you can put it back together if you want but mine were too rusted to do so. besides they look much cooler if you hack them close to where the baffle meets the inner tray. My bike was rejetted because it does give you a bit more of flow just as a heads up. (ie mine was rejetted for pod filters and this actually seemed to give it a bit more kick after I hacked the mufflers.) Ohh and it is very loud.

Sound quality changes too when you have them closer to the inner tray. It becomes less raspy (tinny sounding) which is nice. But the tinny sound wasn't bad actually gave it variance in sound from 0 to WOT rather than a deep sound throughout.

Hope that gives you what you need! Goodluck!

so cut it off right behind the weld at the back side of the "cap" at the end of the can? I popped the rivets then beat it mercilessly trying to get one to pop out just to see if I would like more noise from the small engine... wether it lead to 2bro's or custom cans or whatever... if all else fails, M4 is local and the owner is a friend of a friend's friend or something so... *shrug* just really want to see what the twin 1/8th liter cylinders sound like screaming unleashed some, and want to compliment my pod filter mod as well.

Cannot believe how solid they are still on there with no rivets... I may put some penetrating oil on that end plte while I'm at work and take the torch to it if she hasn't loosened up... maybe bring home a pipe expander and use that to pull the core part of the tip out.

Yeah just cut it right behind the cap it doesn't really matter exactly where. If you do want to keep the caps on though the best bet is too lock something inside the baffle and twist it out like your pipe expander but it also may make it too large to leave the hole. Twisting is the key though. I'd say hack it.

Bombs would be OK but rockets would be cheating.
