New 250R Rider in KS

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop in and say Greetings from Kansas.

Picked up a black '08 250R last weekend for the better half. What a hoot!

I cut my teeth on old KZs (550/1100) and taught her to ride on a KZ440. I finally "upgraded" to a VStrom 1000 a couple years ago as it was the only reasonably priced FI bike that gave me the upright seating position. Gotta say, I've really enjoyed it, but really miss the smoothness of the inline 4.

That smoothness is back with the 250R!

Waiting on a Roaring Toyz lowering kit and a Shogun Sliders Crash kit before she ventures too far with it. At 5'2" she can certainly manage it OK, but I think we'd both feel better with more solid footing. Meanwhile, I'm cruising around on it with a big ol' smile on my face, and I imagine the onlookers are smiling a bit too watching a 6'5" guy roll around on the little 250.

Thanks to the great folks here, the posts, good tech, and equipment reviews that helped me hold out for one of the new 250s instead of snagging a much cheaper older style - it was worth it!

The better half isn't as much of an internet junkie as I, but I'll work on her - promise!

Meanwhile, Roaring Toyz said the lowering kit is on the truck for delivery today and I'm chomping at the bit!!!
