Photo hosting and embedding

Used to use Photobucket. However, their new ad scheme is literally killing me. Even with a hugely fast internet connection, balls to the walls PC, the pages and images load soooo slowly it's stupid. It even affects the loading of other browser tabs I have open. They want you to pay to remove the ads for faster loading. IMO, it's bullshit. I downloaded all my pics yesterday and am ready for a new service that isn't holding my pictures hostage for money.

I don't like FlickR. Tried it, don't like the format.

Google photos doesn't allow embedding but all my pics are there for posterity.

Is Imgur my only other option?

I have been using tinypic for a while, it's not perfect but I don't upload anything that is considered "private".

Checked out photobucket yet?

Yeah but it's a PITA to do it that way and not easily done from mobile.

Agreed, I am just as interested as you are about a really good img hosting service. My pics posted here over the years are all over the place. :\

Photobucket used to be good.

Over the last couple of months it's gotten to the point where it's literally unusable, AdBlocker or not.

Install the App on your phone and you get ads on the LOCK SCREEN! That's too far. I can understand ads in the app but my lock screen? GFY and DIAF.

I've used smugmug.com for years. Not free, but very cheap. Many of the galleries on this site are served from there (splash page, portal page). I think any free pic host is eventually going to get crappy, as it's happened to pretty much 100% of them over time.

Sigh. I think the same way.

Haven't investigated SmugMug too much but maybe I should. My wife is a photog as a hobby, maybe we can sign up and just use separate folders or something.

I was using Picasa until Google axed it finally not too long ago - they finally killed the redirect link I was using.

I'm half tempted to use the photo albums here on Ninjette for site photos but can't always get the link copied when on a mobile gizmo.

Been considering moving everything over to SmugMug.
