2012 dashboard glass and face
I hit a bump in the road last winter and the glass and plastic face cracked. I've looked around and see nothing similar and can't find the parts to fix it. The shop says the speedometer glass itself is 60 dollars which is ridiculous. Can anybody offer advice? Need to fix it because the crack let water in and now the light behind it stopped working.

try to find a custom glass shop or a place that can cut glass. if you can get the dash apart you could take them the broken piece and ask for them to cut one the same size and drill holes for screws if needed.

Good point. I'm sure that would be cheaper. Any ideas about the plastic face? I could call the shop and get a part number. Crack goes all the way through the blinker light. Is it all connected?

That is an excellent idea but a bit of plexiglass would fit the bill as well. Cheaper, easier to work with and can be polished to a glass like sheen.

I think looking for a glass shop would be the best idea to replace that, however for the plastic face plate I think I can help. Just bought a new fairing set and it came with a bunch of the different pieces I dont need and one of them includes a brand new face / guage cluster fairing. Don't know if you would be down to buy a brand new cluster but I could sell it to you .

Hmm is that the whole thing? Not sure if I need all that. How much? Wouldn't glass be inclined to shatter again?

Its the entire guage cluster, never installed, brand new, looks like it came from the factory. Its part 14091 on this OEM Part finder:
http://www.kawasakioemparts.com/oemp...7975e8/cowling Of course thats the OEM part finder website so the price is insane. In my opinion nothing will truly fix that crack unless you replace it. Shoot my a price, Not looking for to much, always wanting to help out a fellow ninjette member . |
