I have been a big Star Wars fan ever since I watched the original series (ep.4, 5 and 6) but my knowledge pails compared to those of you that have read the books. I could learn a lot from you.

I have a question for the Star Wars experts out there. Since Chewi has been around starting with episode 3. How old is Chewi?

Thanks.
No wonder him and Yoda were such good friends. The both had been around a long time.

Hate to be a downer but I thought the Force Awakens was a shameful ripoff of the first Star Wars. The characters just bounced around from one action scene to another with hardly any plot to connect one scene to another.

Some negatives:

- Han solo apparently spent years searching for his old ship? And abandoned his wife to do it? What a loser.

- There's a villain called Snoke, who looks like a handicapped Gollum. And his name is Snoke...

- The story literally is the same of the original. Droid runs from empire with secret plans, young kid on desert planet finds they have special powers. Boring.

The whole thing is just one long string of scenes to make you remember a better film. Nothing in the movie stands on it's own as good. They knew people were so stoked for Star Wars they could get by with this and still make a billion dollars.

Another question for you Star Wars experts that have read the books. Please don't bash me on this question.
Do the books ever mention a "Creator" that created all things including the midiclorions or are collectively the midiclorions the "ultimate power" in the universe?

There are many religions and deities in the lore of Star Wars. However, I don't ever remember reading anything about a main "creator" of all. The closest that I know of is a short conversation between Yoda and Obi-wan that "life" created the force, as a greatly oversized "gia theory." Which leaves me with more questions than answers. And... as time moves forward and many of the force sensitive characters gone or in hiding, the "myth" aspect will take hold unless resurrected, which seems to be the path of the current movies.

@csmith12 thanks for the awesome and very detailed explanation. Made me want to google the Gaia theory. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis

Very interesting theory!
It "kinda" goes along with our very, very immature understanding of how things really work. I believe one very smart man once said "for every reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction", and we so rarely question that statement. So under that context, it's not that far of a stretch to put some amount of stock in gia theory. Although, I am not sure about the whole "mother earth" aspect of it. Perhaps, the force is more of the physical representation of "the theory of everything."

Or, perhaps the Force is Dark Energy/Dark Matter. Those things that we haven't found yet that make up 95% of everything we see and know and counter acts gravity.

Honestly, many true Star Wars fans, dislike the aspect of midiclorions as an explanation of the force. And going back to "for every every action", then there has to be a negative. What I mean is at a very high level is... if there is "something", so there must also be "nothing" as well. I am not sure how much stock I put in dark matter right now, but I currently don't associate it with "the force."

Honestly, if applied to current understanding (fact and fiction). Force users are trained sword fighters with a bit of telekinetic abilities. Some also have the gift of foresight and can sense imbalances to the normal electrolytic relationship between two or more entities. Some speculate that some sharks can pick up on this as well, but we don't say they use "the force."

Wow! I googled "The Force as a religion" and was amazed to find out that there are actually "Jedi churches" out there.

Most of the "Jedi churches" were vague about there beliefs. Most advised to meditate to find answers to the Force.

Better than to answer "I ain't know no sh*t" if you are answering to a padawan.
