Silverdub's thread!

Good day everyone, i'm new to the site. For a couple of years, i've been dreaming of a motorcycle but never actually got around to doing it. just a bit before christmas while shopping with my girlfriend, i happened to pass in front of the kawasaki dealer and decided to stop to take a peak. well, i was quite suprised to see a 250cc that looked that good, and boy was it cheap, i could not just pass on so i decided to bring it home... so i will be using this page to post all of my pics... btw, theres about 2 feet of snow on my lawn and it ll be a while before i take it out for a ride...

when it arrived at home!

then i wanted to see it naked and learn a bit...

while apart, i decided to change the bulbs for some 6000k imitations and they look great!

Nice bike! But even nicer looking garage! You are so organized! And you cabinets magically change colors. I hope to have a garage this nice someday to work on bikes and cars. If you don't mind me asking, What kinda car you got hiding behind your Ninja? It looks interesting.

Sweet! I knew it was something special when I saw that intercooler hanging down under the bumper. What kinda of racing do you do? Autocross, club racing, none? Haha. Someday I am going to strip my car and set it up for track racing. But for now I just autocross. Gotta get through college so I can afford to get on the real track.

Oh Nice! Thanks for the photos! Do you have any action shots? You have put a lot of time and money into that car. I see your an accomplished welder as well. I need to learn that trait in the future. Gah I can't wait to get a real job so I can have a project/race car.

unfortunately, no pictures in action this summer i hope!

i will tell you the truth though, i just bought my self a bike because a car is a money pit, i ditched 20 000$ in that car and it still isnt fast enough, for half that price, you get yourself a 600 that will be plenty fast enough and good handling, this was the last car i was modding like this... it was also the third one... some would say you never learn, i think i did... i used to have a civic 1992 hb on nitrous and then a celica gts 2000 on nitrous as well....i thought turbo would be better.. it is, but never enough!

here is how the passion started and evolved

and then this to go through the winter 2-3 years ago.. i was missing the old red one

and the daily driver...might change/upgrade this soon

Mmhm. I know what your saying. To tell you the truth that is the same reason i bought my bike. I guess it is good I learned this lesson early in my life. I started autocrossing my car when I was 18 and started to realize this is getting expensive. And that was just autocross. I know having a track only car would be super expensive but in my mind it would be worth it. It is what I am passionate about so why not spend money on it. You know? I stopped autocrossing when I got my bike this past summer. But now I am really missing the car thing. There is no substitute in my mind. I am all about the handling aspect of racing though. Speed is just relative. You can't get caught up in having the fastest car in the straight line. So no SS bike is quicker in the twistes than a car with nicely tuned suspension. And the feeling you get is just so different. What I have decided is.... cars are more fun for performance driving but bikes win in commuting and just exploring the world. I have not done a track day on my bike but if I ever do maybe my mindset will change.

This is my cage. And the car that I used to Autocross. I hope to get back into it this season.

And you know the saying, it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Well I couldn't agree more. The Honda Fit is so under powered but it is so fun to drive fast. And it handles quite nicely. I have racing springs and dampers and a rear sway bar and it made it that much more fun! It is just so nice to almost redline the thing but still be going a legal speed. Haha

And the Fit will someday be my track car. Possibly with a K20 swap but I am afraid that will hurt the handling. But idk. The extra power might be nice.

nice, i like the fit... and anything is good to lap with, you actually learn more by lapping a slow car then a fast one!

justin, i know, all FWD... but its about to change... im thinking about getting the new subaru BRZ or scion FR-S which are RWD or an A4 quattro... we shall see, the girlfriend and I are now trying to have a kid, so this might tell which route to go for the next car...kid A4.. no kid, rwd madness

i would never get an S4, i worked for a vw/audi/porsche specialist for 4 years and S4 are nothing but problems! actually, if i didnt buy the ninja, i was to get a 911 but honestly, no regrets!

edit: now that i work for Toyota, a FR-S would be an easy choice..but the BRZ looks better...and i still am a vw fanboy so its a hard choice!!!!! i am lost! hahaha

a 500hp S4, must of been a 2.7t bi-turbo.. 2.7t are great motors.. the turbos are the problem, so when you change them its a great car.. but a turbo job on those cars is still about 25hours of labor

DO IT!!! I can't wait to test drive them when they hit the dealerships! I am already in love with that car. I too would pick the BRZ but not totally sure. Apparently the Scion is focused on agility while the Subaru is focused on stability. The Scion will be better entering the corners but the Subaru will have the advantage after the initial corner turn-in. And aesthetically the BRZ wins. It has a better looking front end and side vents. But they are both sexy. Really, I would take either one. haha

oh hell yeah!!

I'm watching those closely. By the time I'm done in college and can afford a new car, they will have had enough model years to work the quirks out of those FR-S's and I should be able to get a nice, lightweight, affordable fun car to go along with my 2-wheeled toys. Not to mention by then, there should be all kinds of aftermarket parts available for the FR-S through TRD

Seriously I can't wait to get done with college and get a job and pay off my school loans so I can do what I want with my life and enjoy my 2 weeks of vacation every year.

I want a new 250, a Daytona 675, an FR-S, and a either a Trek Remedy, or a Giant Trance. That's my inspiration to finish school and get a big boy job

Pssh. Forget TRD. All they make is over priced stuff. Other companies will have way better options for less money. Slap on some Koni adjustable dampers. Get some Swift racing springs, Enkei RPF1 with grippy tires. Or crappy rear tires to do a little drifting... Oh and a new exhaust system and intake. Oh I can't wait to be able to afford one of these cars!

no, get married and have kids, just later.. there is no rush, at the same time, you ll be more at ease with money and be able to provide a lot to your kids.

TRD stuff is expensive but of great quality and cops cant harass you for nothing! now i'm debating on getting one of the first FR-S to be the cool guy around but ast the same time if thing of waiting and hoping i shall say, that a turbo version comes out. if they do and i rush things up, i might be sad later on... just like i regret not buying a GTI...

that was always my excuse on my '95 civic. It had a working sunroof, was a manual, and still pulled 31 mpg easy.
