One less Kawi in the garage.

So this weekend I said goodbye to the KLX 250sf. It was a fun bike, and reminded me how much fun dirt bikes can be. Got compliments on its' looks all the time.

In the end though I just wanted something with more power. Especially since it wasn't my daily driver, and was more just for hooliganism. Big bore kit was an option, but I just didn't feel it was worth the money.

Couldn't be happier now though after coming home with this long legged Sweede.

2010 Husaberg FE 450.

This thing is sick, it's obviously on a whole different level than the klx 250. Lifting the front wheel on this bike is no problem. Spent all day Saturday riding the trails and it was a total blast. It's a little heavy off road (still lighter than the 250sf was), but is going to make an awesome supermoto.

Crap, now I have to sell mine. Haha. I'd really like more power but don't care for the work involved in the bb kit. Too much tinkering when I can just get a factory bike with more power. I'd really like to have a sport bike again and then a 400cc dual sport. But I can't afford to do so at this time. So I am stuck with my KLX which is fine, because I still have fun on it.

Enjoy the new bike! Post some pics of that thing once you get some SM wheels.

Yeah the cost of the BB kit for the klx is hard to swallow. I mean the price isn't that bad, but what you get for it (an extra 5hp) just didn't seem worth it. Like you said, for the price and effort, you might as well just get a bigger bike.

Having a sport bike and a dual sport/supermoto is a great combination. As awesome as this bike is however, you wouldn't want it as a daily driver. The klx would be much better for that IMO. I wasn't riding the klx every day though, so I was willing to sacrifice low maintenance for a high power to weight ratio.

This 'berg is supposed to be a reliable bike (there's a guy that did a 3k+ mile trip on one), but I still expect it to be high maintenance. One mechanic at the dealership told me that he changes his oil every 200 miles, and his filter every other change. Obviously not something you would want for a commuter. Other than frequent oil changes however the maintenance on these bikes is supposed to be pretty low, a lot less than some of the dirt bikes I hear about.

Right now I'm just adding the few things to it that it needs to make it street legal. Although the bike is street legal outside of the U.S., and it is sold with a street title (a big reason why I bought it), it still needs a few things to be street legal in Ohio (signals, switches, mirror, and what not).

I'll probably keep the knobbies on it through the winter. I can't wait to see what she looks like with a set of 17's and some nice sticky tires though. Should be outta control, haha.

nice pick up!! Gotta love them big thumpers

They can definitely be a bit of a bear in some off road situations because of weight but low end grunt and mid range power is something you will never lack

Yeah, it's awesome to just be putt'in around in 2nd or 3rd gear, crack that throttle, and braapp!!, the front wheel is off the ground. hahaha

It was also nice to have fuel injection and electric start when riding the trails. Some people say these bikes have a touchy throttle at low rpm's due to the EFI, but I felt no such thing. IMO the power was super easy to control at any speed and not intimidating at all, just confidence inspiring.

Not surprising, your kx125 is anything but a power house but the throttle response and hit of the power band is still damn near instantaneous and requires tons of finesse. That being said, if you can ride a 125cc or bigger 2stroke comfortably then even the throttle response on a big EFI 450 feels tame in comparison.
