Exclamation Can not remove the front sprocket guard

Hello, I'm new to the forum and what brought me here was an issue I can not fix. I will include pictures and possibly a video.

To sum up my problem and how it happened; my chain snapped while riding and it chipped my sprockets, caused countless other collateral issues. But I was fine. My bike not so fortunate. I can not remove the front sprocket cover, even after removing the 3 bolts holding it in place. It will not budge even after striking it with wood trying to loosen it up.

Tl;Dr my bikes chain snaped, I can't remove the front sprocket cover.

I will add pictures in the comments if possible.

Edit: it's a 2011 ninja ex250r

Link to youtube video of the problem since it wont let me post it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM38ne3oPGg

SOLUTION:

On mine it was the gunk basically acting like epoxy.

I wedged a thick standard screwdriver between the cover and whatever I could brace it against (frame, shifter, engine) and just gently pried it all the way around the cover. Eventually it broke loose enough I could pull the cover off. Light taps on the handle by a hammer also helped me.

Common problem, due to the pins part#92043, which there are two of them.

NevadaWolf is right on how to get it off.

OP, wasn't mentioned, but just to be clear, you removed the shift lever correct?
