Thumbs up I think I have a problem.

2002 KX 125

Decided I wanted to do more off road riding. Picked this up today for $1100. Man this thing will seriously haul ass.

Gonna go over the whole bike and get it in tip top shape. Plan on get rid of most of the graphics. I love that green frame and think it should look sweet with the plastics painted black.

Sweet!

I have thought about getting a dirt bike but I don't have any way of taking it to any trails.

Awesome, the 2 smoker 125's have always been one of my favorite bikes. Where i am from in PA if you can ride one of those around the trails in the area and survive and keep up with the larger cc 2smokers and 4strokes you know you had some serious skill. The lack of low end torque and difficulty putting the power to the ground make them tough in the tight turning uphills but soooo much fun. Such a light nimble bike, get that thing jetted right and sprockets for your riding style and it will go above and beyond.

Good luck with the tear down fix up. I have been doing my 250 over a long time period (1.5yrs so far) as i can't afford all the parts in one shot. Need to finish out replacing a few more bearings, chain and sprockets get done in 2 weekends, I did my clutch 1month ago. top end rebuild, jetting, reed valves, header and exhaust over winter.
Need to figure out what i am going to do with my forks/suspension, Should i just buy different or send the ones i have out for a pro job, they suck as is.

Good luck, if you ever have any questions let me know.

Congratulations, Ryan !!!

Motorcyclists that can do decently on asphalt and dirt are definitively better riders.

Thanks guys. I know I'm gonna have tons of fun over the summer on this bike. Looks like there's plenty of places to go riding around here.

This bike is more of a beast than I was expecting, my buddies 125cc 4-stroke doesn't stand a chance against this bike. At least I won't get bored with it anytime soon. I thought I was getting half of a 250, but that's not the case. At ~200 lbs wet and with ~40 hp it's no joke. I haven't even gotten it past 4th gear yet, still 2 more to go.

No doubt it will make me a better rider. My goal is to be able to hop on any bike and ride the sh*t outta it. My only problem now is finding time for all these bikes. My garage is getting kinda cramped too (garages are for cars, what ).

P.S. @CC Cowboy You're always so good at stating the obvious. Barn is about to be torn down. lol

yes it is a 2stroke so you get more hp out of the same size displacement compared to 4stroke. 40hp is a bit much, 125 2stroke probably gives you in the 32-35hp range if it is running top. a 125 4stroke dirt bike is a kids toy, That doesn't make them any less fun but they are not remotely in the same class as a 125 2stroke.

So yeah, that 32hp on a 200lb frame plus the hit of a 2stroke powerband gives you quite the acceleration compared to ninja250. Tons of fun, enjoy.

Thanks Motofool it's been a long time since I've had a 2-stroke. I needed a little refresher course on mixing oil & gas.

This is a must do not follow the 32:1 if you will be using higher end oils like amsoil or blendzall they all have different mix ratio's.

Also buy one of these.
