Hello from Newfoundland Canada :)

I'm a Software Engineer from St. John's Newfoundland. I road on the back of a bike once last summer and I loved the free feeling it gave me. I missed it so I signed up for the motorcycle training course. I bought icon gloves and a helmet, a leather jacket, and boots. Where can I get a decent pair of ladies pants and a 'good' jacket that fits right? I've been trying to find ladies green gear but apparently it's impossible to find.

So the wait on the training course was months and well, I wasn't intending to actually buy a bike but I started researching them and had my eye on a green 2009 Ninja 250R. I went into a Kawasaki dealership, sat on one and before the dealer got a word out of his mouth I said I'll take it! So here is novice me who's never road a bike and I am suppose to pick one up tomorrow!! I don't have a clue about motors, or bikes, and this was kind of a expensive little adventure for me.

I don't have any 'biking buddies' yet so I'm hoping you guys can help me out! How do I look after it? What do I do!

Aloha and welcome, TL.

Get the bike and the best gear you can afford. Any questions on how to maintain and/or mod it... we're all here to help. First order of business after you purchase the bike is to read your owner's manual, especially if you are new to bikes.

Glad you decided to join us here. Hope we can be of help in the future.

Bring in more Canadians. I happen to like them. One Canadian is a very good friend of mine.

Hey newfie! welcome to the forums! think we're gonna outnumber the americans soon Green is the best color - you'll be well received on this forum!

If you're not comfortable riding it home, I would suggest asking a friend to help ride it for you, trailer it, or even ask the dealership to store it for a little while. Cause I wouldn't recommend your first ride to be on a brand new bike off the dealership... don't wanna scratch up the green with that slow color they call black

And I gotta ask... what's that on your shoulder?!?!

Haha green is the best! My hair is green and orange actually (you can kind of see it in the profile pic). And the dealership is dropping it off in a truck here apparently. They're not so keen on the idea of keeping it there. Is there anything I should ask them to do before/when it arrives here?

It's my Leopard Gecko, Skittles!

Hey Welcome from Goose Bay. Good move to have the bike delivered. If my memory serves me the dealer is way up Topsail Road. Not the best place to take your first ride.

There's a website for NL riders:
RidetheRock.com

They can offer some suggestions for where to ride where it's quiet.

Take Care

Glad to hear from someone close to home! I was born in Lab City but I've been in St. John's for forever. Yeah, I pretty much work across the street from fun and fast in Mount Pearl and it's not a very nice place to be in a car let alone a bike. There were ambulances in front of the place on my first day of work. Have you been to many of the dealerships in town?

Thanks for the website, that's exactly what I needed!

Bought the bike in Goose Bay. Went to F&F once to get a helmet. Nice folks but didn't have one in my size (XXXL) had to order from an online store in Texas. They had a deal on a nice German made leather coat that did fit but was still a bit out of my price range. I regret not buying it now.

Have you any experience on a snowmobile?

They are nice folks...I've been to a couple other places and man do the others have attitude problems. I don't know if it's against Newbies or women or what. And I love Scrunchin at fun and fast.

Thanks! And I'm already enjoying the adventure. I went in and got a bike cover, another jacket (joe rocket), and boots today! I'll have to get a pic when I get all the pieces together (waiting on a different helmet now). I didn't want to bring it home yet because I'm waiting on the cover (had to order it in) and I can't ride until I do the course anyway. I sat on it and turned it on and I'm so happy with my giant expensive vibrator.

Me: I got a new bike!
Friend: Is it one of those pocket rockets?
Me: Uh...do you mean crotch rockets?
Friend: What's that?
Me: A kind of bike?
Friend: What's a pocket rocket?

And for those of you who know the answer...

My new quote: Who needs a pocket rocket when you have a crotch rocket?
