New 250 Owner in Cbus
Hello all. Well i caught the cycle bug again after riding my sons last summer.
It's been 20 years since I owned a bike.. So couldn't pass up a good deal on a used 2012 250r.. It does need a complete set of fairings and signals other than cosmetics the thing runs and rides like a champ. The amount of info in this Forum is incredible. Hats off to you guys. Quick question I've looked for fairings where is everyone getting them from? I've seen a couple on eBay and ABSfairings Prices are not terrible just worried about quality. I work in the graphics industry and do wraps all the time and was going to wrap my bike anyway.. Any input you have would be great.. Thanks |

Welcome, as far as fairings go the ones on ebay that I've seen if there the cheap one like in the $500 range I've had experience with the and never good all of the were built to thin and weak all of them had to get reinforced with fiberglass at any were they connected whether pushing style or where you bolted it, and even then after so long the plastics still failed, they also don't take heat well. But that is my experience with them (5 of them).

^^ this. I bought an unpainted ABS set off eBay and a couple tabs on the large side fairings don't line up, the tabs for the headlight on the front fairing don't line up with the headlight at all (had to fab my own tabs to line them up, that was fun.....)
The nice thing is your buying the fairings and the plastic bits. So the black plastic pieces that go around the gauges, under the front fairing, right underneath the seat on either side, etc etc and they also sent a back cover for the passenger seat when I'm not riding 2 up. Lastly, there is no heat shielding material on the inner part of the large side fairings. I ordered dynolining (I think that's what its called) the 1/8in thickness works great as the abs plastic comes pretty close to if not touches the exhaust on my bike (aftermarket full exhaust). So if you don't mind doing a little work and are okay with a marginally thinner plastic over the kawi OEM plastics then for 230$ or so you can grab a full set. Hope this helps Edit: here is the link, this is the exact one I ordered last fall. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/3219730...&ul_noapp=true |

Welcome!
If your not in a hurry you can find good pieces here and there from salvaged bikes, but almost never everything from the same bike, and probably not all the same color.
