New Ohlins rear shock available

Have seen this in recent days

Ohlins always had the remote reservoir type
for the small ninja but was pricey

This one must be a 2 way &
Sells for the equal of about $340 USD
Going to take a closer look when I get a chance
Also being in Asia I wrote Ohlins to ask that it is in fact their
product they have not gotten back to me yet

Hi mania,

nice find, but for me it's strange since on all Ohlins-websites I only find the KA 840 and I also know from the LoS we can get many copies here.
If you google for KA 110013 you should find it, but maybe (hope) I'm wrong...

I am way ahead of you Somchai

As that was my first thought when I saw this shock a few days back.
Having learned the 320mm Nassert Beet Disk was not made by Nassert
So like you I searched Ohlins websites & did not see it.
So I emailed 3 divisions of Ohlins...USA, Asia & Euro
But none have replied to me yet

I also see they ( shops here ) offer one for the Kawasaki Er650 here now
I am interested to see if hopefully these are a genuine product
as many of us do not need the full 3 way set-up but this would be
a nice upgrade to stock

Well I have written to 3 divisions of Ohlins
USA, Europe & Asia

So far only Asia has responded saying
the part number is correct & "They are Ohlins produce under Ohlins Asia."

So this could explain the nice price as it is not a import subject
to the usual high taxes here for imported goods.

I May have to give this one a try

Hey mania,

that's a good news and thank you for it.

Do you (maybe) already know if they also have different springs for that shock?

Have a nice day and a safe ride

Hi Somchai

I do not know what springs are available but I imagine it is pretty standard diameter so surely some exist at Ohlins

Also just now got a reply from Ohlins Euro division
So it looks legitimate to me know 100%
Hello,
this is a genuine Öhlins product, made by Öhlins Asia in Thailand.

Hmmm, nice part if it was the OEM huh? I'd like to see more oil capacity in a res. but it is better that at least it is re-buildable and tune-able via valving and clickers.

Truthfully, I'd still do the GSXR swap and have the extra oil capacity of the res, and all the same tune options for under $60. At my current settings I can't fault the thing, and I have another on the shelf ($25 ready to be valved or just pop it in when the oil is tired on the first one. Heck, for the $, I can replace the shock for less than servicing it!

Nice to see more parts available though.

Yes would be very nice if was OEM from the start

Would be cool if Kawasaki did a Ninja 250/300RR
That came with a nice frame, nice suspension, nice brakes
I think many would pay within reason

On the GSXR swap I would consider it for sure if I was not
living in a condo now with no garage
Although I guess I could trust a shop here to do the drilling etc.

It is nice though that Ohlin is making something bolt right on & affordable ( compared to their other products ) albeit no resv/oil.
Then again I always thought the $900+ dollar Ohlin for this bike was beyond the bikes capability as well as costing a lot.

Ohlin is well regarded & hopefully this is a nice product./price compared to others I have seen. .. I had been looking at RPM but really know nothing about them

The GSXR swap is a hand drill and bench grinder job. Not much to it. I think I had the shock modded to fit in about ten minutes. I'm sure I could have done it with a hand held grinder too. I think one guy filed the clevis by hand with a file too. The drill blew thru the original holes in an instant.

You could fit it easily, I'm sure. I'd offer to make one ready but we know the shipping costs from here to there!
