air filter + slipon

been searching and reading but can't find a solid answer..

on a 300, will I need a fuel tuner if I run a K&N air filter with a slip-on exhaust? has anyone run a higher flow filter and slip-on without using a tuner?

You shouldn't "have" to, a slip on wont change much besides weight, and sound. the filter will just flow better. You will get a little more out of it if you run a tuner, but if you are trying to up your performance you should save up for a full exhaust like an areaP, an def run the tuner!

I know a guy running a slip on with no tuner, he hasn't seen much change good or bad.

I've got a slipon, I was just worried about upgrading from the POS foam garbage in the airbox.. I may give it a try, k&N filter is like $35 with free shipping on amazon..

I think the reasoning for getting a tuner is that the stock bike runs lean already and getting better air flow would make it run even more lean.

Like she said... Your gonna run lean, the bikes already run lean, a tuner fixes that. I probly wouldn't put the k&n in without a tuner, you won't blow it up though.

yeah.. I'm on the fence between keeping the bike and throwing some fun new toys on it or selling it and getting a bigger bike.. decisions decisions..

thanks for the replies, I was hoping someone with a filter and slipon only would chime in.. no biggie though. I know a tuner is worth the money, just not sure I want to spend the money if I'm going to get rid of it this riding season..
