07 250r battery issues

Hello!

My buddy has a 2007 250, and we aren't sure whats going on with it. The battery is basically new, but what happens is after a few days, it just won't crank the motor over (get the clicking noise and starter won't even try) but it will bump start.

Put the battery on a trickle for a while, and it was back to normal. After a few days the same thing happened again.

Originally, it was thought to be a short somewhere draining the battery, but after testing up and down for that, it doesn't appear to be a short at all. So we grabbed a volt meter to get the voltages of the batter with the following results:

Off: ~13.3v
Idle: ~14.9v
Throttle: ~15.5v
(This was done after it was on trickle for about a day, so the battery is fully charged essentially)

Now, the voltage for off seems OK as far as I know, but I thought idle seemed a bit high, and figure under throttle it would show more than a ~.5v difference.
Someone was thinking it was a stator issue, but I wanted to get an opinion here before getting any parts.

Fuses look good, wiring looks good, and the bike seems healthy otherwise.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

Battery may be taking a crap and check output of stator.

Someone else mentioned stator, forgot to add that in there. Ill see about testing that and post results.

Ok, so after testing I am pretty sure that stator is ok.

One thing we did too was remove the positive off the battery after starting the bike and it did stay running.

I am leaning towards a flat battery now. It was a $40 battery from Advanced Auto I think, so it could have just been quality of the battery. It was bought new last year, ridden on for a few months, but the sat about 9 months with no tender.
