Intro + Project Thread

Hey everyone,

Been lurking around here and decided to pop in and say hi. I'm Ron and currently working on reviving an old 2003 Ninja 250R that's been sitting for 10+ years. (on its side too).

Got it for basically free from a property owner and I've been working on it since. I love wrenching on my cars, but this is my first time working on a bike. Bought a carb kit from Mr. Ducatiman and working on cleaning the carbs right now which are full of gunk and "tar."

So far I have:
-Done an oil change
-Changed air filter
-Cleaned carbs

Outstanding issues;
-gas tank is super rusty
-clutch lever/mechanism is seized with little movement

If yall have any advice or comments, let me know.
Looking forward to learning more and hitting the road!

Good looking bike. These are gems to fix up and restore and I am sure you will have fun getting it up and running! My only advice would be to simply send Ducman the carbs and have him clean them; he does a mighty fine job.

Suggest doing POR-15 treatment on rusted tank, its a 3 step process and works superb. Its also a forever fix.

X2 I just did my tank a couple weeks ago and it worked great. It's amazing how such a small amount can cover much area.
