these Mikuni's now precisely returned back to stock configuration using both (stock supplied) 140 mains and 5C22 needles with other tricks as well. I'll proclaim these will run near perfect. Ready to go home to owner.

nice try, but these BDST38 Mikuni are the originally suppied CV carbs on 900,750 and 600cc (both SS and Monster models) up till '98 or '99 when they went to FI. Both jetting and internal differences existed between various models.

supposedly "rebuilt"....I'll take exception to that. Immediate wet test cancelled/cleaning to take precedence.
Note EPA caps never removed to enable both cleaning of the involved pilot port(s) and oring replacement These carbs were never split, on all 4 vent and fuel delivery rails the orings were both extremely hardened and dirty. Nice float valve seats, too. I'm not surprised carbs were internally "leaking". Hang in there for pics after my cleaning is done!

nearing completion, currently wet testing, both carbs perfectly stable, ZERO leakage, internally or externally. Wrapping it up tomorrow.
I'll surmise the leakage was due to dirty float seats, coupled with possibly incorrect float valves, more on that later after a comparison and precise measurement. More tomorrow. I'm played out today.

On left the original float needle (from a Far East carb kit used previously) and my currently installed needle on right
Note the Far East version leaked from RH carb Mine are holding reliably in both carbs May/may not be related in view of the poor condition of the seats as found. Anyways, differences are obvious.

upsizing pilot jets very likely requires re-adjustment of pilot screws.Depending on how the bike initially runs....may or may not be worth it.
Is yours running ok or not?

it's always nice to get the bikes all ready for summer... i fired up all mine the other day all started easy except the Ninja 250.... it acts lean I think I may need to adjust the pilot screws again.... once warm it worked really good but it had to be completely warmed up.....
i got the Triumph running real easy... I cleaned the pilot jets and charged the battery and gave it 3 kicks and she fired right up the kids bike hasn't been ran for about 8 months so I kicked it about 5 times and it fired up... and big Red the XR650L fired up first try with the electric start .... nice to know they'll run ! still to chilly to ride but I did see the sun a few days ago and the grass is really growing, leaves are starting on the apple trees too so it won't be long till warm weather is here ! ..... Bob......

Installed battery into my SS800 Ducati today, bike had been sitting since December 1 or thereabouts.....with same (stabilized) fuel the bike started upon instant touch of the button. Needless to say...I'm a great fan of Stabil 360 Marine.......the stuff flat out WORKS.
I'll get its first ride in the next few days, busy with other stuff today.

Humm I mainly added that just before winter... but as often as I ride these things any more I think your right..... each of these bikes sets more than it is ridden any more.... and this new gas goes bad in 3 months.
Financial aspects are really getting tight around here now... thanks to Biden so I think I will be forced to thin the herd.... at least a little. I hate to but living is more important than having a collection of bikes that I don't ride much. ....we'll see... I put 2 on creig's list and nothing is happening... it went the full 30 days without a single inquire on either.... so the time is not right. ..... I'll try again at the first of the month . Bob........

Agreed the current financial situation/inflation is a tough one. I'm also a believer of owning smaller, frequently ridden groups of bikes, 2 to 3 tops for me.
Good luck with your sale(s).

Currently returning a whacked out 250 carbset back to stock specs. A "jet kit" previously installed containing 2 totally different unmarked main jets (1 large, 1 small) unmarked pilot jets, jet needles and overly long pilot screws.....combined to create a non-runner. Every piece to be returned to stock spec. Anxious to get feedback from the owner once returned and installed.

any kit with the pilot screw pictured (on the left side in pic) obviously NG....as far as I know...many kits use these.
