(computers) what connector is this?

I'm building a computer, I already bought the case and power supply. Going to go with a mobo and cpu combo next. However, there's this connector that connects my usbs on my computer case to the mobo that i've never seen before. I want to make sure I know what plug it is so I buy the correct mobo for my case, (gonna go with a full ATX intel board)

Any helps would be appreciated.

I know this is a motorcycle forum, but hey it's in OT and maybe one of you would know.

Thanks!

I'd say that it is, thank you! Now the challenge to find a mobo that supports it.

Wow, I've been saying they should standardize that for years. Looks like they finally did with USB 3.0. Not that long ago you had to pin all those out individually on the mobo, along with the power and reset buttons, pwr led and hdd led.

Seems like that should plug right into any USB 3.0 motherboard.

I know right! I hated having to put the pins in their respective places which were ridiculously confusing and different per mobo.

The mobo i'm currently using (stripped from my old PC) is old as sh*t and doesn't have any USB 3.0 support which explains why that connector doesn't exist. lol

Is it the TPM connector? Cause if not then i'm at a loss.

Well, no. Your old motherboard obviously isn't going to have native support for this relatively new standard. If you're intent on using your old motherboard with your new case, you can use an adapter like this, which effectively downgrades the front usb back to 2.0, or whatever your motherboard is. Or you could possibly get an expansion card if you need the 3.0 functionality.

That is very obviously a USB 3.0 header. USB 1.1/2.0 front panel connectors have been standardized a long time but there were a few motherboard makers who stuck with thief non-standard pinouts for a while and case manufacturers couldn't make a block in order to accommodate both "standards." That ended over 10 years ago though.
