A bum sits on your bike
The next time this happens I will be more inclined to go with option E

Make sure you always position your spiked bracelet or other jewelery in such a way that this won't happen. A spike belt can be wrapped and slipped through the lock.
Go ahead, sit on it and enjoy. |

I went with C . I have known some bums in my time. Most are nice just off alittle that makes it impossible to function in society . But all of them have a story. If he is attracted to you motorcycle then it might be a bike story. Besides that ,you want to get him off and not tip or scratch the bike. So ya gotta get them off slow and careful.

Just keep in mind, to those who talk the talk, walking the walk to option E will get you arrested and prosecuted for assault, and in most if not all states this will mean jail time and a permanent criminal record.

We're literally talking about a homeless person sitting on your bike? Wow. First time hearing this.
I'd just strike up a conversation and ask how the bike feels and what not. Eh, these are things that really don't bother me and not worth getting all upset.

I mentally replaced the word "bum" with "another human" in my mind. I don't think it the situation changes on account of them being homeless or not. What matters is whether this specific human is damaging the bike or not (drops it / scratches the tank with a belt etc). Personally I'd ask them to get off the bike, but I'd try and be friendly... ask if they've ridden before.
I think it's polite to get permission before sitting on someones motorcycle, but at the same time it's not the end of the world if someone does it to your bike without permission, so long as they don't harm it, themselves or another person... I'd hate to see someone put a little kid on my bike. There are lots of ways someone can hurt themself even on a stationary bike: falling off (if you're a kid), dodgy stand brakes, getting burnt on a hot exhaust, bring the bike off the stand but doing it to quickly and having the bike fall on you potentially braking your legs etc |

Never recall ever having similar problem.
Usualy I leave my helmet and jacket on the bike, both items covered with dead insects, mud and grease spots.. as if visual deterrents were not enough; the scent combination would repel anyone who gets close enough. |

If I see someone on my ride without permission I call 911 and say someone is stealing my bike. Think about it. Would it be any different if a stranger got inside your car? The way people are these days I'm not confronting anyone I don't know, unless I'm with a group of people for backup.

It makes it worse when the person is a dirty disgusting slob who takes shits in the abandoned gas station parking lot next to where you work. I've also seen him peeking into peoples cars, so the next time he tries to touch my bike, he will be met with aggression.

I wouldn't even touch someone else's bike without asking, but that's just me. The other day a friend plopped down on my bike when I was doing some work on it. It was not running and he wasn't going to attempt to ride it. I was a little surprised but because he's a good friend, I didn't have a problem with it. Now, a homeless person... I'd be a little scared - you never know.

Yup, life is too short to make a big deal of something small. If it was a young punk or wannabe squid, in other words someone who was quite conscious of the taboo of sitting on someone's bike (or getting in their car etc), I'd flip out. Calling 911 here, you would get reamed out for wasting their time. Maybe even get an official ticket of some sort. 911 is for emergencies here. Someone who was a little offside? No harm done. I once lived beside a mental hospital and had a lady walk in the house and sit down like she owned it. Made sure she was 'okay' and escorted her out again. Nice and gentle, no harm done. Still don't have any need to lock my doors. Never have, never will. |

Lol, so many people assume bum = crazy. So because they're homeless, they must obviously not be mentally capable of functioning in society? Atleast for those of us in the US, with the way the economy and everything else has been, there's probably more 'normal' homeless than you might suspect.

I had a lady walk into where I work several times over the last week. Sweetest nicest lady I've ever met, but definately showing some signs of mental illness. I thought schizophrenia at first as she seemed to percieve things slightly different from reality, but I think it might be something slightly different now. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if I had gone outside and seen her sitting on my bike...or in my car for that matter. If she had and I'd asked her not to, I know she would have spent the next half hour apologizing. Certainly no reason for any raised voices. I can't imagine why I wouldn't try the same approach first with someone I didn't know.

The problem I have with this is that if the person knocks over my bike, I'm stuck with the repair bill. And if the bike falls over and hits someone else's car, it will still be my fault. No bum is going to have money to pay for the repairs.

So now I need to determine if a stranger sitting on my bike is just goofing off or attempting to steal it? Nonsense. I'm calling the cops. If I get a ticket because I believe my property is in the process of being stolen then there's a serious problem with law enforcement.

You see someone sitting on your bike fiddling with the kickstand, what do you think they are doing? Someone is sitting in your car fiddling with the shifter, what do you think they are doing? It is entirely justifiable to assume that the person is attempting to steal your bike/car and you have the right to defend yourself and your property with appropriate force. Obviously shooting someone is not applicable to the situation and frankly I have no idea where you came up with that.

I'm really glad no one has picked option A because that is the option that nearly all of my coworkers who saw the guy chose to do. One of my coworkers was in her car in the parking lot and she drove up to the guy and honked at him which is when he got off. The others decided to tell me after she had honked.

The phrase "Knock his ass out", option E in the poll, clearly indicates a certain level of physical violence. Maybe that's apparent to you, maybe it's not, doesn't matter to me because should this theoretical case in your world become a real case it's obvious how you'll react. Sorry, I can only work with the definitions of words as they're written. To arrive at any other meaning would require me trying to imagine what someone meant to say when they wrote something entirely different, and there's no way I can read minds over the internet. Lord knows, I've tried.
