Post your fav skills/training video.

Sometimes seeing is better that just reading.

Feel free to post a video that you think would help other riders. I'm looking for general or new rider type videos. From the very basics on up to more advanced riding but let's try to keep it less MotoGP and more MSF.

Thoroughly scour the "Sticky" posted at the top, too, it's awesome. Thanks Alex! I read it way back when and should have gone back after I bought the bike - some good stuff there!

Since I love to ride in the rain, here's one I found helpful:

This video helped me the most of all that I looked at on youtube.

I watched it like a week after I started riding, and since I watched it, I never struggle from turning from a stop. It is so easy now!!!!!!!!!

Link to original page on YouTube.

Edit: I dont know how to get it to show up as a video inside the post. Can a mod fix it for me? Sorry

I like the videos above, but I have to say (in my opinion) they will do more harm than good to a brand new rider!!!
Learn to crawl before you walk.

I thought the OP was interested in videos for new riders.

Agreed, but for some reason ppl think "track day" how to's are the best way to learn...All you ever see is links/suggestions to book/schools like Keith Code(s) etc etc..

Don't underestimate "track day" or "race day" videos and books.

Those contain just elementary motorcycling skills properly explained by people that know what works and what makes you crash.

Your Ninja is a sport bike, and it should be ridden as such.
That doesn't mean neck breaking speeds, but balance, precision and coordination at a sporty performance level.
New riders should learn these techniques from the beginning, because they are as useful for the street as for the track.

Total control over the bike should be the goal for street riding, for which the moderated application of these techniques has no substitute.

Lower times should be the goal for the track, which is a safer environment, where these techniques can and should be used more aggressively and extremely.

Same physics laws apply to both worlds.

I have seen many instructional videos for new riders that are very misleading.
Those seem to have been created and posted by well intentioned but inexperienced riders.

These videos I do like:

Somehow I never came across CaptainCrash when I began researching beginner/tutorial videos last year. I spent a chunk of the day watching his entire collection, pretty good stuff delivered with a bit of humor. I watched BlinkyCab and Mordeth on youtube a whole lot when I first began my search.

You have to order it but I found it to be one of the best videos I've seen so far. It's geared towards racing/track riding but the information is awesome.

Whaaaa???? That's really you in the brace??? OMG, wtf happened?? Link me to your story!

My riding buddy just wrote off his new ninja on Sunday. He's okay but the red ninja Nikita is not so lucky.

I'm never leaving again.

I was very happy to see the gross kid avatar gone but I'm not sure If I like the 'hurt you' one better, you're going to have to line up a 'recovered' avatar!

Thanks for moving that to here too.
Brilliant explanation! MUCH better than the so called 'no BS bike' sorry Mr.Code.

Wish it wasn't called counterSTEERING, confuses the hell out of people. Maybe counter balance, counter lean?? Yo, Mr.Code, invent a new word, please.

I'm saving that one and putting it up every-time someone asks so get used to seeing your link.

It tends to not do what you want but can be a legitimate and handy tactic for slower speed turning like in the MSF box where you do the 2 180s.

You do "countersteer" though, push left go left, push right go right - or for the same effect turn the wheel left go right turn the wheel right go left. How is that confusing ?
LOL I wasn't suggesting those words because they don't quite capture it, I wanted Mr.Code to invent a new word that didn't imply that a rider was heading the bike in the opposite direction. I forgot here was already something called counterbalancing - oops - should have read counter BIKE balancing since I was implying that you're using the bike's balance to get the bike to lean in the direction that you want to go.

The people I've spoken to who are confused about it is because they think you have to STEER the bike and as this video shows, it's not the steering part that matters, it's what is physically happening to the bike. (yes it's easiest to use your hands to do it LOL) I guess I don't like the STEERING words because people seem to thing that STEERING means you'll go that way.

Maybe counter TILT, Mini-lean, directional dipping, directional-wheel-weighting-technology heehee JK.

I was lucky that I knew the physics, so ignored the explanation in my course, never had any issues making fast or tight turns, high speed swerves or whatever. The people that were having no trouble steering before the "explanation" all of the sudden became useless at steering. They knew how to tilt the bike naturally to get it to go the other way but after the whole big explanation, it was like they hadn't even been on the bike for the first whole morning. The explanation confused everyone in my class except for the experience riders.

I got called out in front of the rest of the class by the instructors as an example of someone who "really understood the explanation" and was using it effectively. I didn't say a word.

I guess as long as it gets the job done it doesn't matter what it called, I just think that video SHOWS what's going on so it's more effective for us newbies.

Your ideas are silly and farfetched. My ideas are logical and sensible.
