Question Frame sliders

So quick question. I considered getting Frame sliders went to the local bike shop and he told my basically they are worthless for the 250. Now I have bought a few sets in the past for the bf's GSXR 1000 and his track bike but still not sold for the 250! Any input is great also brands and how they look and ease of install Thanks everyone!

She has an '09. There are a few different brands of sliders for those.

Street people seem to think that they help in slower drops where it's mostly just a drop, not a slide.

Track guys seem to think the bike crashed pretty well on just the fairings, so why add sliders that can dig into the dirt when the bike slides off the track at 50mph and flip it around, causing more damage.

Getting sliders is up to you. Personally, I think they're not necessary. Just my opinion though.

I put a set of T-Rex on my current 650R. The set (unknown brand) I had on my dearly-departed 650R saved the right side of the bike from being destroyed in the crash, so I think they're totally worth it. Big help to your fairings for the occasional driveway or garage tip-over.

The bike I crashed at 40mph in a lowside had some pretty long frame sliders. I really think it saved my @$$ when the bike went over, my leg would have been crushed and dragged. Instead, the bike and I slid at different rates and directions...which did reduce injury. The slider was plastic and the mounting bolt was bent really well, but it really did it's job well.

It's up to you man. Being on a 250 though, the frames are very weak in comparison to SS's. So keep that in mind.

A local bike shop called Cycle Broker, hes a pretty straight forward guy and just said he would rather see me throw my money at track plastics or rear sets.

Shogun sliders were the ones I originally wanted to get. They're highly praised.
I'm not going to get sliders anymore though.

havent dropped the bike (knock on wood), but just installed some shogun frame sliders and think what everyone is saying is right. They would definitely help on slow drops and probably some bike slides.

There would be quite a bit more damage to the fairings on my bike if I didn't have sliders. Basically, when I crashed my bike lifted up and then turned to its side and landed on the slider. The fairings still got messed up but I'd say they are repairable, they wouldn't be if I didn't have the slider. However the slider did cause damage, my engine now has a tiny scratch

Oh and btw, my bike was totaled in this accident.

Woah, That is a big jump But I say track it lol though I do loooove the newer z1000's the white and orange is beautiful!

also I just read your crash "report" and yea that's exactly why I hate driving near teenagers, I laid mine down and luckily it was with no plastics on it so all that it hurt was the brake lever and the bar end, some 16yr old girl texting and reversing backed out into me i was LIVID! I got up and politely asked " and what exactly where you doing, which one of your BFF's is soooo freaking important"

It's not that big of a jump, I mean it has like 10% more HP than a zx6r, its not sport tuned. Plus I already have a Ninja 650

And yes, goddamn teenagers, gna start knocking off their mirrors

On long rides I stretch my legs out by hanging them off the sliders.

I'm 6'4 and I put mine on the back foot pegs when no one is in front of me and I know it would be a long shot for me to break fast..... Helps me lay down as well a bit more.

I lowsided doing about 35mph, granted I only slid about 25 ft or so before I hit the sidewalk (it was on a turn) and the sliders saved my bike any real damage. I would say they are worth it, they didn't stop me from dislocating my shoulder, but the bike is fine and without the sliders my shoulder would probably have been even worse. (It already requires surgery as is). Here are pics of the damage that did occur...
