Hi from Berkeley
Hey peeps, new member here!
My name is Haider, I am a college undergraduate. I have this engine-less ninja frame(with everything else), and I just bought a 250r engine and battery off of ebay. So for the past week it's been my project to put it all back together. So far, besides putting the plastics and the yoshi pipe on, here is what else needs to be done before my baby is ready for the road. 1. new chain(somehow need to find a cheap way to rivet) 2. Fluids- of course, but I'm saving that for last 3. Clutch cable-im having an issue with the clutch release shaft sticking out(searching google for the solution for this led me to a thread on this forum) I guess after that she'll be ready for the road. Anyway, I just wanted to fill you guys in on the status of your newest member. I hope you all stay safe. And Ninja's are super fun. I look forward to the prospect of getting all leathered up and going balls out on a track on this baby. Don't care if I spill I just want to get her MOVING!! |

Hi Alex,
Love your avatar! My bike is red, too. How do you like your bimmer? Does it have a rotax engine? I'm thinking about getting one of them when I move back to socal. I've always loved their versatility. |

Welcome aboard Haider!
Did you get the clutch release shaft sorted out? It tends to be a little fussy to put back in but if you get it most of the way just working it back & forth a bit usually settles it for me. Regarding the chain, sounds like you're planning on at least one more moto, might be worth your while to comb ebay for a chain rivet/breaker tool.

Thanks Ken! Sweet collection you have there. OK PEOPLE WE HAVE AN AWESOME UPDATE!!! Thanks to a thread on ninjette.org I fixed my clutch release shaft by removing the cable and moving it counter clockwise to 6 o clock and then back up to 10 o clock where it should be and I think that part is fixed! so I am super stoked that I didn't have to remove the clutch cover! And since I was down there I went ahead and installed a new oil filter. Does anyone know what the second, smaller o ring is for? basically I am a chain install and one minor throttle detail away from riding my bike again! So now on to the throttle, I installed the accel and decel cables and I noticed that they were sort of stuck, so I thought I installed them backwards, and reveresed the order, but that made them really backwards. So I put them back the way they should be(in the process becoming an expert in installing cables through the loops) and the throttle is stuck. when i pull on the throttle lever on the carb they are sort of jammed. I didn't do much exploring because I thought I would study the diagrams before I screw anything up. Anyone have an idea? SOOO CLOOSE!! |

Also might be worth your while taking apart the throttle linkage on the right handlebar to make sure the cables are route properly. If that's not the issue, I'd suggest some cable lube for the cables themselves and grease for the ends.
