track or street

I'm sure its come up before...

I am making a lot of plans for my future. Some near some far. I need to decide if I'd like to keep riding on the track or continue street as well. If I continue on the street, I'd like another bike. If I stay on the track only, I wonder if I'll get bored just sitting around. Maybe some dirt riding ?

~$2000-3000 depending on area. And yea it would be hard not to track it but if you have a zx6r track bike it's far from impossible to stop yourself

Ninja 250s can be had for cheap there is a nice one here for 1900 on CL right now and the price is dropping

Also there are a few 2000 isn GSXR and NINJA 600 s for sale for less than 2k

some rebuilt titles some not.

track bikes are a dime a dozen. you can get a really sick one for 3k
a beater for 800$

so do it.

Ninja 250 or not, go with a lower cc machine. You can somewhat point and shoot with your 600, you will learn more with something that can't do that. You gunna have to ride fast because you have the skill to do so, not because the machine is fast.

Should you go all track? Hmmm, that is something only you can answer at this time. You have had one track day, I would say give it some time to fully sink in. Ride some street too, and ask yourself again in a few hundred street miles and maybe another track day. The answer will reveal itself.

I asked myself the same question, whether or not to go all track. Then I went on a few street rides and despite the pace difference still enjoyed them and knew that I'm not all track just yet. Besides, until I have a degree and a proper job it wouldn't make sense for me to switch to a car to use as my commuter

Stiff? Nooo. Never stiff. Stiff is bad.

I think you need to come up with the right word to ask what you're trying to ask, because stiff is always bad

I much prefer to ride the ninjette on track to the 600. There is something about riding a small bike fast that is more enjoyable to me. I do not know whether I will ever quit riding on the street, but I never ride "fast" on the street anymore.

The cost to me is the biggest hurdle to just go ALL track. I can afford to maybe go 10 times or so a year at this point and I couldn't limit my motorcycle use to just that.

I like both but I can say that through all the track days I've had done, it has made my street rides a whole lot more enjoyable. Perhaps age and wisdom has set in from experience and I know when and where the time and place to push myself and the bike.

I don't know about you but trackdays just aren't scenic here in Texas.

I am aware of this shop as it's somewhat local to me, but never purchased a bike there. Overall round my parts, rumor says they are legit. I also thought, 1500 was kinda low, so I did a lil bit of digging.

$1,500
On Hold Till 11/1/14
bike needs work and is missing parts but it does start right up and runs and rides see pictures and video ...has a bent cracked subframe could be tig welded easy it is missing the exhaust .... would make a great stunt bike or turn it into a street fighter for cheap

So... Salvage title, cracked sub, missing parts = 1500. It's a fair deal to the right rider that needs it as a base or a parts bike. To someone who just wants to ride and don't wanna fix stuff, pass. Sure the fixes are somewhat easy, but for 500 more... you can get better and maybe with a few go fast goodies already in place. (in the Cincy area)

I was thinking project bike. Didn't read about the cracked frame part of that. I was thinking talk them down, strip it of everything it doesn't need to run, slap some used track plastics on it, and have a go. Maybe it's more work than its worth

Another option; the WERA Classifieds. If you're going track only, let someone else do the hard/expensive work. Looks like there's some good 250/300 track bikes on there in great shape for fair prices right now.

http://weraclassifieds.com/?s=ninja+...#axzz3Gce7iZbU

There's all kinds of good condition track bikes in the 3,000-5,000 range.

I was thinking it too. There's a CRF450 sumo on there. Hmmmmmm.

Honestly, some of the 250R racebikes come with their street plastics too. Soooooo with those prices, as long as you don't mind it being railed on as a track toy and don't mind it likely not having a kickstand, you could feasibly get a cheap street/track bike with all the performance mods you're going to make to it anyway.

yea, but that's annoying to do sometimes when you want to park in the middle of nowhere

I think I'd get a stuntcage for it and prop it on that

Lol, or just get some long screw driver or something and find some way to make a temporary stand, then store it under the seat. It could work, it would just take some creativity. I'd be willing to live with it if I had to.
