I learned a valuable lesson today

... Keep a smashed soda can under the passenger seat.

Nice warm day in Los Angeles, upper 90s. Walked out to my bike which had been parked for a few hours in the sun and noticed the bike seemed to be leaning more than usual. Jesus!!!

That's nothing. Wait'll it sinks in, then cools off later in the day, and try rescuing your bike from the asphalt.

I carry a kickstand pad thing in my tank bag. Helps a lot too when parking on sand or soft dirt.

+1 for the Kickstand puck! They have a little hole in them to so if you can reel it in with a bit of string after you get on. (Or if you just forget to grab it before you get on. ).

Off topic-ish:
I seem to have bad luck with mine:

First puck i had was a yellow one that the dealer gave me the day i got my 250. This one mysteriously disappeared from my front yard when i was at work. Best guess was an animal made of with it for some odd reason or another. It had been fine there for months beforehand.

The small black puck i got from my BRC class i had kept in my bag until then was run over by the lawn mower a couple weeks later (thanks babe).

I go ANOTHER one off amazon. This time my boyfriend remembered to pick it up when he mowed, but forgot it on the back of his truck. Black puck on a black tonneau cover. It is now someplace between my house and Buffalo Wild Wings....

I now have one from Progressive.... See how long that lasts.

Haha typical SO. Husband out slaving mowing the grass and the thanks he gets is being bitched at for running something over you "keep" in the grass.

It's ok, we feel for him

Um.. thats where he keeps his too.

And who said i bitched at him? It was freaking hilarious! The only one i was more or less upset about was the one i got from the class but meh, its just a puck.

I plan on putting a rock in where i park this weekend.

If there's a motorcycle show or something around, the Geico tent is usually giving them out free.

I'll keep an eye out for that.

Due for a new "how i lost my puck" story.

I often don't think to carry a crushed can or whatever, and usually end up roaming around looking for a piece of board or a large flat rock.

I should probably plan ahead and keep a piece of plastic or metal under the seat...

If you have to look all "**** hot jet jock" nothing says, high tech areo-space like carbon fibre.

this is what I did at work in "MY" parking space. 1/8th inch 6061 aluminum, 4 holes in the corners and then screwed it to the asphalt with 1.5 inch dry wall screws. Not going to go anywhere.
