Honest mechanics in orange county, CA

Does anyone know of a shop that wont destroy my wallet while not taking care of my bike? I need new tires and a few other things I do not have the tools or space to do myself...

Thanks!

no such thing as a honest mechanic.

Good luck though!

Valves and chain adjusted. I am actually going to be moving to a place with a garage so I may just wait and do it myself then.

For real. I think my lack of confidence gets to me a bit...took me 3 tries for my manual cam-chain tensioner setting.

Cyclemall is an option if you want good and honest, but I can't guarantee they won't be expensive. I also echo the motion that learning to do it yourself is always the best alternative for those of us who aren't made of money. Between the service manual, this site, and youtube, ninjas are pretty easy to work on for the most part from my experience.

I can understand having a pro do the valve adjustment just because if you screw it up your engine is hosed. That being said for the price to have the valves done and chain tightened you could easily buy all the tools necessary to do just about anything maintenance wise to the bike.

isnt the valve adjustment supposed to be simpler on the 250s? youtube has a few videos about 250 valve adjustments.

I did pay for my 600 to be done because its way more tech and its a pain to get to.

newgen 250's are really hard to screw up the valve adjustment. adjusting it incorrectly isn't just going to instantly destroy your engine. the parts that are easy to screw up is like, making sure the gasket is on correctly when putting the cover on and stuff

Personally, I don't recommend you DIY. If you F*up (like I did) it's gonna cost you a lot to fix.
