anyone know anything about belt drives?

is a slight whine upon acceleration with a brand new belt normal? or would this be a sign of it being too tight/loose?

It's a pretty common problem. Some riders just live with it, but I take it as as sign something is slightly off and my belt may not last as long. Belts are more "vocal" (squeaks, groans, howls and whines) about proper tension and alignment than chains. I would start by checking those two things first.

Thanks for the input, I took a peak at what the manual says it should be adjusted too, and the bike appears to have a gauge/window on the side. I'll take a look when I get home tonight

I hope this isn't one of the Vstars where you have to take off the entire exhaust system to change your oil filter
