Gaah... need an intervention

I shouldn't have gone to the NY bike show.

Now I'm jonesing for a new bike.

The 2103 ZX6R really grabbed my attention.

I already like the current iteration of the GSXR750 (fits me like a glove).

The Daytona 675 is soooo sexy.

I was even taken by the new BMW F800GT, a geezer bike if ever there was one.

Breathe... breathe... you love your 250R... you don't have the cash... HOLD IT TOGETHER, MAN!

If I were to get a GSXR, I would get the 750. Gobs of torque mean that you can ride on the street without ever going above 7k or 50% throttle.

I'm digging the 636 also from reviews, and I want more info on the new Daytona.

Not a fan of any GSXR's. They aren't very attractive, plus all the squids ride them.

I don't like that the new Daytona 675's exhaust is on the side of the bike now. I love the under tail exhaust on the previous model. But the bike is still amazing despite its relocated exhaust.

Kawi 636! Is Awesome! And I want one! But that huge exhaust has to go.

You might have to wait a while until they release the 2103 ZX-6R. I probably won't be around for that haha

I like to take the long view.

Did I mention that I got to the show via the TARDIS?

Screw that, get the liter and you never have to go over 4k rpm and 25% throttle, and you'll still end up in the triple digits

Okay, okay, I found a way to lower the steam pressure.

I went to Progressive and got quotes on all these new bikes, then compared to my five-year-old Ninjette.

I feel all better now. Nothing like a good cold splash of cost-of-ownership in the face to get your mind right.

Really that much? You should see the quotes I get being a 21 year old. Now that's a cold splash!

I always though the advantage of getting old was much cheaper insurance rates. There goes my dream of owning a few Ducati's and Aprilia's when I get over 30.

I pay something like $116 a year now for comprehensive. So cheap I don't even think about it. It's over $1000 a year for a new 636.

is that because of the theft rate in Norfolk? I hear that's one of the most unsafe places for sport bikes.

I got quoted 1200 for a new rider, 0 years exp, up here in PA.

Its mostly because of my one accident and driving record.

But norfolk is not a great place in terms of theft.
You have to know where to park your bike.

oh gotcha, yeah that's the one nice thing about my area here, you can park whatever bike you want here and there's little probability of it getting stolen. supersports everywhere, all parked uncovered, unlocked... it's nice not having to be paranoid lol

Do you have snowy/cold winters where you are from? I felt the same way lately. I drew up plans, budgets, and spent hours getting quotes for either a brand new 636 or 650r. Total, I would say at least 10 hours a week I would be researching, planning, and trying to decide for either of those two....

I just picked up my Ninja from it's winter storage (my friends Garage) and after one ride, I was plenty happy with it again. Hopefully this helps and the one ride will put your mind at ease as well

If not, the 636 is one hell of a bike....
EDIT: I pay about $100 a year for the 250r (no comp). I was quoted around $900 full coverage on a 636 and $500 full coverage on 650r (both quotes were Geico, my current provider)

I am slowly getting tempted to get a new bike but a lot would be riding on what it looks like when it gets to the US and how much they try to sell it for. That would be the faired 390 Duke. Other than it being a single cylinder, spec sound like it would be a blast!
Am thinking insurance prices would also play a role in my decision.
I think i pay 250/yr for full coverage on my 250. I need to update my insurance though, and i only have 5 months before my insurance record is clean. Clears anything older than 3yrs ago. I haven't had a ticket since June 2010, but i happend to get 4 in 2 month stint, 3 in June alone So my insurance sky rocketed on my car after insurance company got wind of that. Hopefully i see a significant decrease.

Insurance Shmurance

Man insurance in Texas is rediculous. I have full coverage on my 2012 250r and i am paying $60 a month. just moved here from Colorado and would have been $30 a month up there
