What should it look like with gas in it? Also why check for gas what could that mean? I know there is antifreeze in it already because I didn't drain the freeze before I pulled the head off.

Well.... stop right there sir.

Gas leaking down from carbs can hydrolock the engine. Assuming that is not it and you had the head off and can confirm there is coolant in the oil, that alone can dilute the oil enough to cause ticks and clanks out of the norm in the 250 engines. After all, they are not the quietest of engines to start with.

As far as using the site goes, you seem to be doing fine and I can see your reply just fine. Mobile is always fun.

If you oil is contaminated and you know it, change it. Not doing so is only hurting you. Even if you have to change it multiple times to complete a maintenance job.

Thumbs up

I know gas was leaking down.Do you mean on the casing or inside the carb in which case inside the carbs once the floats rise all the way up that's it I been running it like that for a little while before this happened a few months. This actually happened right after I tried to fix my petcock valve problem which didn't work and I had to put the valve that I have originally back on because I moved the spring inside of it to the opposite side so that the gas cannot be cut off. Then the next morning boom I said it was hydrolock too to my boss at work. The ticking was before the coolant though but I think I'm gonna put a head on it and i think it will run but I'm thinking that ticking is gonna be louder then. Im hoping for the best.Gonna try to put my 600 engine together this weekend probably.Ohh and also the gas was leaking on the outside of the case as well bad diaphram and gaskets unless I left the gas level in the tank at reserve then didn't leak a drop.
