Your bike is too small and the bike you are thinking about is too small.
So I go to my favorite cycle shop and we are discussing my lil Ninja and some how get on the discussion of cruisers. I tell the guy(whom I think a lot of)I might get a Suzuki C50 or Harley Iron someday and he begins to tell me that would be my second goof. My first buying the Ninja. Me being the sweet guy that I am did not argue with him. He said you need at least a 1300cc and that he was just barely happy with his 1500. O.K. so maybe I look more like the Harley kinda guy but I love sport bikes and my lil Ninja is a freekin blast to ride.
I know this subject has been gone over several times but this guy who I really respect and is one of the top notch mechanics around basically thinks Ninjas are toys and real men must ride need 1500cc's. |

A friend of mine saw my bike yesterday and asked, "I bet this sh*t does the 1/4 mile in 10 secs, huh?"
What does this have to do with your post? Nothing. I just wanted to share.

If guys are like riding bikes, it's not the number of the cc's, but what you can do with 'em.

you'll get more satisfaction out of the looks on the guys faces when you stomp them in the twisties on a 250 than you will out of going mach 2 in a straight line on a supersport.

yeah i don't get the giant cc argument with sport bikes. But I will say this. I rode a Vulcan 900 at the t2r event and was NOT impressed. The 250R pulls just as hard (according to me good 'ol butt dyno) and flicks better. so Maybe a guy who rides a cruiser bike would need 1500cc's to get the same kick as a 600cc supersport...?

I say go to the twisties and show him how it's done. And I also had someone who I respect told me that "Your bike is too small" I just told him that, I love it and I'm tall anyway so it doesn't matter.

Just don't really get it.
When I bought my wife's Elantra no one said to me "boy you are gonna wish you had gotten a V8" No one questioned the V6 that ran in my Chevy 4x4. I have taken a 250cc ATV in places the big 600 and 700's would never go and if I got in trouble I could pick up one end at a time easily with my lil ATV and get her out of trouble spots. Never see that happening with a mega ATV unless a winch is involved. |

I used to ride a cruiser. It sucked. Didn't handle. Heavy. It was just transportation. My ninja is a hobby, a friend and a hell of a lot of fun. And, as a bonus, it is cheap to buy, insure, upgrade and maintain.
Who cares what somebody else thinks. Do you like your ride? If so, enjoy it!

Has nothing to do wiht CCs , a while back I asked my sisters mechanic (she realy looks up to him) to change out my tires and i asked about aligning the rear end... he said " no no you dont align the tires on a motorcycle" well this guy says hes raced for many years and has been a motorcycle mechanic all his life "which i believe" but after reading thread after thread about rear tire alignment, im left thinking "are your serious???"

lol... "i took my bike in to him complaining of vibration from the wheels, he said it's supposed to be like that... so i asked him about the rusty chain and if it needs lube... he said you aren't supposed to lube the chain, otherwise it flings onto your wheels and makes you crash... so i asked him about the missing engine mounting bolt... he said it didn't need it and he took it off to save weight"

I'v only been riding about a week and a half at this point but I'v already decided there's too types of bikers. There's the kind who are just stoked that your on a bike, and then there's the kind that are only worried about their image. Today on the way home from class I had a guy pull up next to me on a CBR600RR who thought my bike was pretty cool and he liked me helmet. We had a pretty friendly chat at the stop light. Yet, the other day some squid on a ZX14 pulled up to me wearing no gear (shorts and a tank top) and when I said hi he just kind of gave me a dirty look and then took of at mach speed using the shoulder to pass cars... and then there's people like my grandparents they have a harley road king that is completely chromed out I'm pretty sure they just ride because they like to meet people, they have a RV/trailer for their bike and they just go to all of the bike meets and drink. I'm not even sure if they do much riding.

Reminds me of a conversation I had at my friend's wedding reception that was held at his uncle's house. Me, his uncle, a friend of the family (who said he rode a V-Max at the time), and a mutual friend of ours, were standing around his uncle's Kawasaki 1500 Nomad. I started saying how I was looking to get my first bike and was gonna go small. His uncle chimes in with "Oh yeah, you want to go small, like 1000cc." I almost choked when he said that.
I then tried to tell them about the highlights of the ninjette. Of course they countered with their lack of knowledge of it's capabilities. I even told him to bring his heavy ass nomad up to PA on the twisty mountain roads and TRY to keep up with a "little" 250. He stumbled on that one when he had no real argument lol. I gave up when they all agreed that if I ever went on group rides I would be stopping for gas before everyone else. So much ignorance out there on what the little ninjette is capable of it's sickening yet laughable at the same time. |

no NOT at the track
HP and Torque, especially together can be an addictive phenomenon. Starts and ends within a certain period in your life usually. One puzzle to me is people always mention HD's but never V-Rod HD's.

Sounds like another case of big bike, small penis!
J/k since he's someone you respect, I'd say let it go, you should just agree with him, the Ninja is a toy, just like ALL motorcycles are toys for grownups. You chose to get a Ninja like most of us here because it's fun to ride. You can get a bigger bike if you want but it's about what you want and enjoy, maybe you don't need bigger bike to feel better about the size of your penis... I hear stories about people getting **** about riding a smaller bike (even vs scooters) but people need to grow the frack up, there is always something bigger. The 650cc guy can say the 250cc guy is a pussy and the 1000cc guy can call the 750 guy a pussy and so on. You should ask your mechanic friend there why he is being such a pussy and for not getting a 2000cc bike (is there such thing?). He really needs it to hide his penis because it's so small that we can see his vagina behind it too. Oh and lastly penis penis penis...That is all. |

You're missing the point. All that matters is that you know what to do with what you got, big or small.

There are bigger than even this but most are either single custom jobs, prototypes, concept bikes or something along those lines. The Boss Hog bikes are production bikes at least. Good example of a bike that (thankfully) is not a production bike: Here's Dodge's Viper V10 (8277cc) powered Tomahawk. |

Nope... did it today. You have to wind it all the way up to get there, and then it hits the limiter as you kiss it.

I ride a slight modded 07 Hayabusa. Been riding the Ninja my daughter won.
I have a 15 mile ride to town lots or twisties . The little 250 is a blast to toss in to the corners . Now no where near the speed I pull with the Busa on the straights But still getting down the road. . Yes mine is fun the acceleration is unreal . But the little Ninja is fun. When she gets her lic. Iam sure she will have a good time on it That is if its home Iam really thinking about a used on to trick out for me to play on. By way rode a harley for years They don't handle, their slow and over priced. The V rod is way over price I believe That eng. was developed in mid 80's before the current V motor their using. HD riders told company We don't want that thing. I was one at the time. Want to keep the V twin. So twin lived on and the Porsche motor got put on shelf. For many years. |

Its all about the attitude and being true to yourself.
Its not in the cc's but in the comaradery. Just like in the song "Image" by J. Lenon.

I used to ride with a cruiser group and I remember a couple of rides where the gas stops were determined by the one or two guys with peanut tanks. They could not even go a hundred miles without needing to fill up again.
