New Rider from Louisiana has a question...

I just bought my 2009 Ninja 250 from Calmes Motorsports in Denham Springs. I have read countless OMV papers on motorcycle inspections in Baton Rouge, but not one says that we need to be inspected yearly. Anyone know if Louisiana requires a yearly inspection on Motorcycles?

P.S. My family is telling my the dealer took care of all of the paperwork, but I do not have an inspection sticker.

It says periodic saftey inspection is required, any idea where, when, or where to put that said sticker?

I'd call the local DMV and ask them. Doesn't your motorcycle shop know these things, too?

About the only thing they know is how to sell a bike and not help you after you have rode it off of the lot.

Hi there!

Well, I'm not 100% positive on the yearly inspection, but I'm about 98% sure it is required.
As for your inspection sticker, you should receive it when you receive your physical plates.

When I purchased my ninja, I had to return to the dealer in about 2 weeks with proof of insurance to obtain my physical plates, and inspection sticker.

Well that would be my luck with Calmes, first trying to sell me it $1000 over sticker and then not giving me an inspection sticker. I bought it back in September too. Been riding ever since without an inspection.....perfect

Call your local DMV to be sure what the laws are in your area. If the dealer is in fact selling the bike and not providing an inspection sticker required by law, they can get into big trouble with the local/state authorities.

I would call the dealer and ask about your sticker... it could be sitting on someone's desk.

AMAZING idea kkim. I had no idea the were actually required by law. That should be perfect for me, because I have tomorrow off of work, and temps will be in the 70's.

Why not just go to your nearest inspection station, pay your $15, and get a sticker? Do you have a car? What do you do with that? The motorcycle should be no different.
