Drive chain sprockey doesn't reach the sprocket?

Okay, So I performed an engine swap. So I had to remove the drive chain from the sprocket connected to the engine. I put a new engine in. And put my sprocket back on the chain and tried to pull it over to the thing sticking out of the engine that the sprocket fits into. But I can't seem to pull the chain far enough to fit the sprocket in place. It seems like the chain somehow shrunk while it was off the sprocket. Anyone know what I can do to get the sprocket back into place?
Thanks mateys.

(Just realized I wrote sprockey instead of sprockey HA!)

Perhaps the sprocket on the new engine bigger than the one on the engine that was removed? Can you gain any more clearance for installation by loosening the rear axle? Is the bike hanging by any chance? If so, weight it to compress the rear shock.

ps, ensure your chain is 106 links

Loosen your axlenuts and back the chain adjusters out, then kick the tire to shove the wheel forward in the swingarm. This will give you enough slack. Also, make sure the bottom engine mount bolt is in place properly.

I can't for the life of me get that axlenut to loosen up. Can I still loosen the chain without having to loosen that up?

Remove the safety pin and turn the nut while holding the head of the axle bolt.
Use some Liquid Wrench penetrating oil and some serious muscle and lever (have somebody hold the bike, keeping it from falling over).

You will need to do that each time the slack of the chain needs to be readjusted.

It helps to use a big wrench, like socket with an 18" breaker bar, as opposed to the typical ratchet handle.

No, use a breaker bar if you have to. Make sure the cotter pin/safety wire pin is pulled and go from the axle nut side as opposed to the axle side. You should need to put some pressure on both ends

Another approach is to remove the sprocket on the engine, place it into the chain, then reattach that same sprocket - if you are unable to get the rear wheel loose.

Sorry to leave you all hanging. But, I used a breaker bar and got that thing off easy. It was like magic. Thanks for ya'lls input.
