Hello from No.VA!
Long time lurker, first time poster. I figured as my imminent purchase of a Ninjette draws nearer, I should probably introduce myself:
I'm from the suburbs just southwest of DC, currently attending college in Orlando for graphic design, but moving back home in a week. I don't have a bike yet, and I've never ridden before, but the first order of business (after, you know, a place to live and a job) is an MSF course and the purchase of a pre-gen 250 to learn on! |

In the time that I've had since deciding I want a motorcycle, I've done a lot of research on gear and safety, along with research on the ninjette. I know that the statistics say that I'm going to be sliding along the pavement sometime in the first year of ownership and that when I am, I'm going to be sure I'm wearing ALL the gear. Here in Orlando riders with full gear are an extremely rare sight. Maybe it's the heat, but even in the two miles between my friend's apartment and my own that I just drove, I saw 4 individual motorcyclists in jeans and t-shirts, and only one had a helmet on. Maybe they're trying to channel the power of the indestructible corona tank top. |

Welcome to the boards! I am up in Northern MD but I tend to travel a lot to where rides are. I am trying to make my way down to VA there are several Ninjette folks down that way that I want to meet!
Anyway... Oh! Warning DCSportbike.net and DCSportbike.com are nice places to visit. They are a bit immature (well a lot. I can't access .com due to adult content O.o) I am giving you a heads up because a lot of people in the DC area frequent the borads. It is an interesting place to see about some rides but be careful who you choose to go with (if you catch my drift) Take care! Sunny

I'm in Manassas until mid-August, then back to school. When do you think you'll be able to get a bike? |

Riiiiise, my thread!
Seriously though, I'm reviving this because I'm re-introducing myself. (And why waste a perfectly good thread?) After putting my dreams of riding on the backburner for a almost a year, I finally have the resources to take the first steps. I signed up for an MSF class in early April (but these next two weeks of anticipation are torture!) and I'm poking around the classifieds, drooling over bikes and gear again. I'm glad to be back and to see you all still active as ever! If the next couple weeks play out as I'm hoping they will, I'll have a bike by the end of April. Maybe by then VDOT will patch up some of these darn potholes! |

Good luck with the potholes. I think you're more likely to see Hell freeze over than VDOT get off its arse and do something productive.
That said, welcome back, and hope you'll make it into the 'currently riding' group soon!

The MSF course is the first step on a long journey of learning and fun. You will continue to as you ride. Even myself I been riding for 6+ years and took the MSF ERC class and it taught me new things.
I'll re-welcome you as I an new myself here and hope to hear more updates as time progresses from you. cheers! = )
