H2R - beginner bike

I was thinking of getting a new 300, but I just saw that Kawasaki announced the H2R, which looks quite nice. I like the ergonomics and I think that it'll be a good beginners bike. I can't really understand why they'd have two 300's though. I'm assuming that 'cc' and 'hp' are the same thing ... right?

I saw that last night but forgot to post it here. A beginners bike, I saw an article that says it will be around the 300hp realm. If that's true then, it should be called the "Widow Maker". Aside that, the look of the bike is nice.

Hi, I've been riding a Honda Helix for about 4 weeks now, and have only crashed about 5 or 6 times, and am ready to move up. Thinking to get H2R next ...

The real question is --- How far will we have to go to make the De tuned version into the Dr.nasty version?

Will they use the same engine internals? Fuel system? Turbo?

I imagine they will reduce boost. change fuel maps, exhaust system, intake, fairings, rubber and whatever.

But will they cheap out on all the components because they need to reduce the price for market section.

I mean the actual production bike probably will not have CF fairings, Race quality suspension, tires, and goodies.

The wait , the anticipation.

In the mean time

Based on Kawi's patents, it's possible that the supercharger has its own transmission, likely in order to make sure a rider's hands stay attached to his wrists whenever he cracks open the throttle. They could utilize this to make a street-going version if it made it into the production bike by changing the gearing.

At least one of the articles mention that this bike will not be street legal anywhere as is. Not sure what the point really is to building it, except to show that it can be done. It looks sick, for sure, but it is also pretty gimmicky. Aerodynamic 'downforce', really? I'm sure at least one person has pointed out that at speed, in a corner, the 'down' force would actually make things potentially worse, given that down is actually a 40+ degree angle with the ground....

I agree with you guys, i'm sure the street edition isn't equipped with the carbon fiber fairings and most likely won't feature a supercharger. I'm just curious how much power will be lost? I'm hoping to see the street edition maintain a 200+ horsepower mark though.

In this article, the H2R is billed as the most powerful motorcycle ever produced. This thread is entertaining, but the OP made a mistake lets take it easy on him. This bike reminded me of the Y2K, I never forgot about that bike. That is the true Widow Maker.

I thought Kawasaki qualified it by calling it the most powerful series production motorcycle. Of course it's not the most powerful motorcycle ever; there are dyno shootouts where turbo'd busas approach insane (4 digit) horsepower numbers, along with those oddballs like boss hoss bikes with supercharged 502 ci big block chevy motors.

All this hype and yearning and awe and fascination and obsession over the H2R...

I feel that every day when I think about my own bike and I'm so glad my sensitivity to simply riding to work hasn't dulled.... I'm pretty thankful I'm as excited and happy to ride my own bike as I would be to ride something like an H2R or anything else out there.

It looks like a rhino...

300hp from 1,000cc would seem a lot more insane to me if I hadn't recently got into F1 racing and seen 1000+ hp from 1,500cc lol. But for a street machine it's certainly insane, I wonder how reliable it will be? I'd love to see stories of these suckers hitting 100-200k+ in a few years man.

nah it's still fairly impressive when you consider how fast f1 goes through engines

Agreed, putting reliability and driveability into the equation changes everything haha. The H2R makes over twice as much HP/L as either of my bikes

I remember seeing one at a car show many years ago, it was wicked and possessed. I'm pretty sure it can be easily pumped up to go faster. Turbines have crazy potential.

I remember a motorcycle with a viper motorcycle as well. Now that was crazy too. But the Y2k is still my favorite, just the start up on the turbine alone is worth watching.

But for a street machine it's certainly insane, I wonder how reliable it will be? I'd love to see stories of these suckers hitting 100-200k+ in a few years man.
