G'Day from Australia

Hi everyone. I've been lurking somewhat on this forum for a few months because I wanted to finish my mods prior to posting a photo. I'm a long time rider from the outskirts of Sydney, Australia & have had quite a few bikes over the last 20 years including a GPX250 [before there was an internet ], VTR250, RGV250, YZF600, TL1000R, R1 & GSX-R1000K6. I'm currently between bikes & am having a hard time deciding between a BMW S1000RR, Duc 1198s & the new ZX-10R [it's not out in Australia yet]. I'm on this forum as I convinced my wife to get her rider's license & buy a bike. The Ninja250R was the obvious choice . She wanted to keep it bone stock but that was sacrilege to me as I'm a long time modder of cars & bikes. My last bike the GSX-R had 172RWHP due to some excellent mods. She lets me mod the bike but I can't do anything too extreme in case it jeopardizes her license testing. I think what I've done so far is all I'll do & I'm happy with how much better the bike looks now. She's had many favorable comments when she's out on the road about how good it looks. The only thing I'll have to do before her next test is put the stock can back on as the MGP is LOUD!! She actually likes the sound of the stock exhaust & I only put the MGP on this morning - hee hee! We'll see how it goes......

The mods I've beavered away doing over the last couple of months with the help of so many useful DIY threads on this forum is as follows:

ZG Double bubble screen
Pazzo racing levers [shortys]
HEL brake lines front & rear with Motul RBF600 fluid
EBC HH pads front & rear
R&G racing fender eliminator
Oxford Mini LED rear indicators
Photon flush mount front LED indicators
Philips X-Treme Power globes [HID conversion illegal in Au & will fail the wife's upcoming license testing]
LED tail light bulb http://www.ledshoponline.com/automot...1157.htm#13smt
Radiator guard www.radguard.com.au
Oggy Knobs (Australian made frame protectors) http://www.kenma.com.au/oggy_knobs.html
Fumoto oil drain valve http://fumoto.com.au/
Skidmarx rear hugger
MGP Slip-on exhaust
Swingarm spools
OEM rear seat cowling
Headlight protector www.amhp.com.au
K&N air filter
Billet alloy registration label holder http://www.ausfr.com.au/cart/shopexd.asp?id=129
2 oil changes so far - now using Motul 7100

Thanks to all the keen DIYers on this forum - you've been really helpful & it's made a huge difference. Hope you like the photos. Oh, and in case you're wondering why I chose my username - I'm an anaesthetist [or anesthesiologist in the USA]. Get it?

All the best from Down under,
Doug

It hasn't been rejetted (yet). That's one thing I've yet to tackle. It only has a slip on exhaust + K&N filter - shouldn't I getaway without rejetting??

You can, but I would shim the needles at least. If you can, rejet is worth it. When I just had a slip on, I shimmed the needles and it ran great.

Yes, shim it at a minimum, with a couple of washers on each needle. Your wife will love you for this as it makes the bike much easier to ride from a dead stop. Adds a bit of low end/midrange punch to the bike. A very friendly mod for a beginner rider that they will be sure to appreciate.
