Mystery wire

Real quick, I bought my bike used and it already had the fender eliminator installed. Looking behind my tag I see three black wires hanging. Fairly decent sized. Two of the wires go to the turning signals and there looks to be one wire cut short that hangs there. Anyone know what this goes to? Should I be worried? I would post a pic, but I am on my iPhone.

Thanks

Nevermind I believe to have found the answer. It is used for diagnosis by Kawasaki?

Not sure where you are talking about .. behind what Tag and location on the bike? if its in the rear is it the license plate light? A pic even cell phone quality may help this out.

BTW: Did a quick forum search and here's the entire bike wiring diagram for the 250

It's right behind the license plate at the end of the tail.

That's likely the license plate light cable. That's the only other wire that should be down there. Should have two wires inside the black 'bundle'

definitely sounds like license plate light. if you don't have an lp light I highly suggest getting one to avoid any trouble with the cops. You can even wire in those little LED bolt kind that they have at cycle gear and elsewhere

But my license lights up fine with the tail light. This not legal? I have a fender eliminator kit and I guess whoever put it on only hooked up the turn signals and left the last cable to hang.

It depends on if your state requires it. I don't think FL has a state inspection for motorcycles so you may be ok. I would double check just to be sure.

Check to see if any of the wires are spliced further up. Maybe during the process they spliced the license plate light into another source.
