Rear seat lock not working anymore
Yesterday in the middle of the day after I had accessed the trunk a few times, I found that the key would no longer unlatch the rear seat. The key would turn all the way but nothing would happen. I ended up using an allen wrench to pull the cable and unlatch the thing. Upon further inspection, turning the key will make it start to unlatch but it never fully unlatches. It stops halfway and actually goes back a little bit. Any idea how to fix this? Opening it with an allen wrench isn't hard, but it looks a little ghetto

Have you tried to lube it? (the cable as well as the lock unit)

Look at part number 27016 in the below diagram. The little plastic part that keeps the cable end from moving likes to break.

If there is anything left of the plastic bracket, you can use safety wire or something to bind the cable end to the bracket. That was my fix until the whole thing broke off. I was hoping this thread would give me some more time before I needed to order the part, but I think I'm going to cough up for a new one.
EDIT: So I found a way to wire it up without any part of the original plastic bracket. First i secured a length of wire around the collar of the cable then I positioned the cable so that it is not pulling on the lock and ran the wire back to the helmet hook, wrapped it a couple of times around the helmet hook. Then I ran the wire up to the cable and secured it - again making sure not to put tension on the lock. I took a picture if that makes it easier to understand. |

I'll go **** around with it later when I have time and see if I can make something work haha. I really don't care to pay for a new part.

Oh yeah I never updated this. Seat lock works again after I safety wired things in place. I noticed the seat doesn't make a solid click into the lock anymore, but it still locks all the way so it shouldn't be a problem.

@ninja820
Here I took a picture. Ignore the extra straps and things. I circled the cable you're supposed to hook the allen key onto. Slide it under the seat flat first until you're over the cable and then turn it so it can catch onto the cable. Then pull in the direction of the arrow and lift the seat at the same time. |

I was trying on the other side lol (thinking from the left side when facing the lock) I tried an allen wrench but had no pull capability so I got a bungee cord and was able to get it latched onto the cable but no luck unlocking it It seems like the cable is stuck on something. Any suggestions? |

@tfkrocks
I asked my brother in law for help and he got the seat off! For anyone who might run into this problem take a long flat screw driver and on the opposite side of the cable push the latch in with the flat screw driver and it will unlock the seat. If anyone needs a picture for demonstration I can take one. |
