Thanks everyone, was a great day until the fuzz decided to ticket me on my way home; which really put a dampener on it. I'm trying to not focus on that, despite the difficulty.
I think moving one exit down from highway patrol has been bad for me -- pulled over 4 times in less than a year (before I lived here I had never in my life been pulled).

Are they picking on you, or were you really going something like 10 over or more?

not speed, I was actually going like 20 mph on the shoulder because I wasn't in full gear (because I was dressed for the parade) and that's what I got ticketed for.

Wow, sorry to hear that. The local law enforcement folks out here in the tobacco fields of North Carolina are pretty reasonable. I once had my wife tow my van home with a 100' nylon rope, her driving ahead, and me in the towed van, steering. I chuckled about how when I lived in Bethesda MD, I'd probably be put in jail for that.
Maybe you can go to court, plead guilty, and explain that you really were trying to do the right thing. That sort of thing used to work pretty well for me in MD. |

Sucks that you got a ticket.
One thing that can help your relationship with PD is to do a ride-along with them a time or two, or go to any public events they hold. Sometimes they do open house days or the like. Let them get to know you, let them see that you're a responsible person that they shouldn't pick on. |

Lol! There is no relationship with Washington State police on the I-5 other than as tax collector! Several years back the State was faced with huge budget shortfalls and we (as Canadians that frequent the great backroads of Washington) noticed a HUGE increase in patrols & ticketing on the I-5 but on the upside; they seem to have far less patrols on the great riding roads! except when passing through the town of Cement! That cop is determined to nail ANYTHING that even THINKS of exceeding the posted limit even only 1 mph over! Keep on the secondary roads or 5 under if you must use the I-5 and make sure nothing can give them an excuse to give you the extra tax burden!

LOL!!! Yes; that's the one! On the 20. Great route! Can be a day trip or branch off at the east side and enjoy some spectacular roads & scenery too!
Sorry for the thread derail, Yakaru!

Can I take my girlfriends there? Then I think it's still dyke on bike-able.
