Indeed and great idea, a free inch closer! I have always had reservations about cutting them though. I don't want my hand cut by the sharp edge that is left behind, if I can get past that, I will have no issues cutting into them. Maybe I am making an issue out of nothing.

fiberglass after being cut, as you know leaves that horrible edge, and even after sanding still will never quite be right like it is coming out of a form. maybe you could get that stuff they put on car doors ... the rubber tube with a cut in it or whatever, and glue that over the cut edge?

that would work I think, or a bit of silicone or something ..... but has anyone really had an issue with it?

I'll get some pics for you Chris, I cut into mine and love it. I didn't care because they're oem trashed ones, figured I'd try it before I got the legit bodywork

I run mine a good 1 1/2 lower than what I've seen on others

You know, it was my first time out this season, and first on this bike, and in the morning sessions, I was starting to get a little disappointed. It is SO high, and has to go SO FAR from side to side, that I felt like I was floating in the clouds a bit, and had no sense of reference. But right after lunch, my left knee puck touched for the first time, and I immediately felt more planted -- I knew where I was, and where the ground was, and then my body started remembering. I think she'll do just fine for a while.

These are from my last track day over Easter weekend at Hallett in Jennings, OK. Body positioning was better than my first and second track days, but I plan to work on this more on the next track weekend in June at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, TX. Although, I'll be on a different bike. I've swapped bikes a couple times with @Davidb32 over the last few months, but it will be my first time on the 636 at a track.

I have that same helmet, but don't use it on the track.

Here's my track Ninjette:

I need to work on getting my upper body further off, sooner. I tend to slide my butt off, then wait until my knee/toe hits before pushing the bike away and hanging further off.

It's a gsx650f like all 650s it's a little on the porky side but makes for a great all rounder w/a solid torque based power band. I admit that I was unaware of it's existence until tnr4 bought it, had I waited just a few months to get my 300 I'd be riding his old 300 right now, he sold it at a good deal to get his suzuki.

Yup. It's basically a racier Bandit with a slightly obese gixxer fairing, haha. It's SLOW at such a fast track, as it's 20-30hp down on any SS, and 100 lbs heavier. But it's just such a fantastic one-bike-garage bike. I commute 1000mi/mo, ride 400mi in a day, it gets 50mpg, and if you wring it out (and you're not on a track next to an actual gixxer), it feels like a gixxer. The new CBR650F is basically a much newer, higher-spec version -- I'm glad to see Honda giving it a shot.

No kidding! Did you know it was me, or just figure it out from the pic? How do you know Sayeed? He's my neighbor, and that track day is basically the first time we hung out.

Oh, and I was pretty amped! The last two sessions were where my body finally really figured things out, and I got faster, smoother and more comfy. It was a great end to the day. :-)

Yeah. I told Syed in the morning that he wasn't going to pass tech because of his chain, so we loosened it a bit before he went to tech. That day was the first time I met him. Him and I both know a mutual friend. He ended pitting with me through the entire day. Very nice guy. As for you, I never forget a track suit. Lmao.

We will be at beaver run next weekend. Come out if you can.

First time riding a 300 on the track. Came off with a bigger smile than I do with my gixxer.

Almost there!

If only I could trust the front to hold because there is plenty of lean left in that bike.

EDIT: Yes, I bought the photo set, waiting on the disc .
