Street Tracker Project

When I first saw a 1979 Honda CX500D Café Racer for sell, wanted one. Contacted the seller, but the CX was sold. Decided to build a Café Racer out of a CX500.

Found a 1980 CX500D for sell with title & purchased it. When looking at seat pans to install, found a Honda GL1000 "Dirt Track" seat pan at Hotwings Glass, so decided to go for a street tracker style with European handle bars.

Did not work on the project during 2012, so started back on the project today. Need to finish mounting the flat side panels, do some welding, paint the frame/components, and assemble the bike.

Going with a Ducati electric fan, bar end mirrors, Mac 2 into 1 Exhaust system, pod air filters, rejetted carb, 1978 CX Comstar wheels, and new electronic ignition from the Czech Republic.

This is how the CX looked when I got it:

Seat pan installation:

Modified battery/regulator installation:

Ducati Electric fan installation:

This is the project right now:

It should look something like this when finished, but will install 2 into 1 exhaust, 1978 CX wheels, flat side panels, and bar end mirrors. This bike has drive shaft, too:

Looks great. CX500 was a great bike and has been the basis for a number of great cafe conversions. Yours looks like it's on track to join them.

Really like the CX Café conversions. That was the route I was taking until I saw the dirt track style seat pan. Going to put this bike project as #1 on the project list this winter.

Thanks!
