Fast Crash on the Track

Pretty much topped out through Riverside at Buttonwillow. I got more speed than I usually do and the whole thing just slipped. I had been doing the same thing alllll day and then randomly I'm suddenly going too fast. Luckily I just got dirt in my eyes and my leathers survived. I put together a bunch of the passing that was going on. I finally got my knee down too so I'd say it was a great day and I did what I wanted to do. But now I have no bike to ride : / ....

The bike is completely destroyed. It did a bunch of flips and probably went 80ft if not more. If anyone has a frame sitting around let me know.

Link to original page on YouTube.

I'm glad you're alright bro... Good luck getting the bike back in shape/getting a new one... Will insurance cover it? Does insurance even cover track riding?

Sometimes insurance will cover it, most of the time no. Depends on the policy he has.

Congratulations your earned that new R6

Glad your ok and if the frames bent you can always get it straitened out. I can almost guarantee I've crashed my bike harder and I had them straitened and they worked fine afterwards.

Nice crash! What were you on the track with the MFS course? The other riders (including the control riders) were dangerously slow (for your speed). They all appear to be first time riders.

I know why you crashed. If you turn the music off and concentrate on just riding (instead of listening to music) you won't crash (as much).

Sorry about your crash. Yeah, like someone had mentioned try claiming through you insurance co. If you have State Farm they will cover it.

If you don't have full coverage and need a frame try Ebay or craigslist.

As to why you crashed...review the vid very closely and you'll see the reason why. FWIW, you were jamming.

I do. But I am holding on to it. I have a feeling that I may need it in the future. You know, like when I get into track days and all.

@WesleySnipes Nice video man! Glad you walked away from that crash without any major injuries.

Just look for a frame on CL. That is how I found mine. It came with the triples, front forks, and swingarm all for under $200 if I remember correctly.

Yeah I was in C group I'm certian it was probably the reason I crashed since I was taking outside lines a lot...next time starting B forsure.

Hmm Do I have to strip it down or can they just do it? That would be an awesome option for me.

Like sticking my finger in a jar of jam or what? I don't really know why I crashed other than that I was going 10mph than I normally do on the outside.

Yeah unfortunately but it was a very hot day so : / no idea.

Thanks for the wishes everybody! I'll be back riding with some new exhaust ideas and new paint within the month!

A quick update I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a Ninja 250 with a knock for $400 to swap over my stuff to. And another bike that has been crashed with little damage for $200. I can now build a street and track bike...ahhhhh yeah

Yes I go to school in Slo. I was thinking about joining them but they do a lot of dirt and I have very little free time haha.
I actually have a sweatshirt from them for some reason.

FWIW, they get mad discounts on Ti2TT track days, so they're worth a look!

Id say it is cheaper if you have a race prepped bike and your licence. plus there is money to be won right?

The theory I came to is taking the outside line which is dirty. My lean angle wasn't all that far off I wasn't even all that close. In the video it looks like I ran over a dark patch and lost it. Not sure to be honest.

You need to watch the video again. If you notice you're on a 250 blowing by sled dogs on bigger bikes led by control riders bored out of their minds. After passing lines of riders, holding on for dear life as they ride at a parade pace, you will notice the control rider in the group where you eventually go down, toss something onto the track. I couldn't tell if it was a liquid (oil, antifreeze, KY Jelly) or a handful of marbles but it seems to have done the trick. You can definitely see him chuckling under his helmet as you get swallowed up by the asphalt. They will never do this to you when you pass on the inside because if you go down there you take them with you (just a reminder on how to pass sled dogs).
